We've added several new changes for engineers in patch 3.2. Some of these additions may appear in the next public test realm build, and as such, we'd like to tell you what changes are coming. Please bear in mind that some of these changes may not appear in the next test build, and all of these changes are subject to revision until patch 3.2 is officially released.

Here is the latest version of the 3.2 Engineering section which will be reflected in the patch notes on our forums and website soon:

Engineering

  • Added a new Mind Amplification Dish attachment for helmets, allowing engineers to control other humanoid targets. Some restrictions apply: does not work in Arenas, dish sometimes reverses targets, unable to stack with other stat-improving head enchantments and makes your helmet look... stylish?
  • Added a schematic for a Goblin Welding Beam that can heal friendly mechanical or vehicle units.
  • Alarm-o-Bot functionality changed. Materials required reduced.
  • Box of Bombs no longer requires an anvil.
  • The Cobalt Frag Bomb now incapacitates enemies within a 3-yard radius. A short cast time was added, but they are usable while moving. This change applies to any Cobalt Frag Bombs already created. The existing recipe now makes 3 at a time.
  • Engineers can now learn to create a portable Wormhole Generator for Northrend. The Wormhole allows them to travel to different locations in Northrend, although the locations are sometimes in dangerous places.
  • Increased benefits from Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket and Reticulated Armor Webbing glove modifications.
  • Increased the passive bonuses provided by Springy Arachnoweave, Flexweave Underlay and Nitro Boosts.
  • Increased siege damage caused by Saronite Bombs and the Global Thermal Sapper Charge.
  • Mote Extractor now has innate tracking for gas clouds while it is in your inventory. Tracking of gas clouds has been removed from goggles.
  • A new repair bot has been added, and his name is Jeeves. He is the ultimate gentleman robot butler, able to perform all the mundane tasks of repairing, selling and buying junk for your entire raid. Additionally, he can open bank boxes for skilled engineers (350+). Jeeves is not destroyed when used, but due to pressing engagements, can only be summoned once an hour. The schematic for this handsome robot was said to be hidden within the parts of another robot – hoping to be found by an engineer one day.
  • Nitro Boosts: Now have a 5-second duration.
  • Potion Injectors now increase the amount gained by 25% when used by engineers. Quantity produced by recipes for Runic Healing and Mana Injectors has been increased.
  • Reduced the materials needed to create all engineering Dragonlings, and reduced their cooldowns, although they still cannot be used in Arenas.
  • Significantly reduced the cooldown on MOLL-E.
  • The Spynocular belt attachment has been changed to a Frag Belt. The Frag Belt periodically produces a Cobalt Frag Bomb that can be used from the belt every 10 minutes (never runs out!).
  • A Steam-Powered Auctioneer has been added to the Dalaran Like Clockwork engineering shop, allowing access to one's faction Auction House. The Steam-Powered Auctioneer was programmed with a superiority chip, and will only interact with Grand Master engineers.
  • Transporter devices are no longer classified as trinkets and can be used directly from your inventory.
  • The Ultrasafe Bullet Machine and Saronite Arrow Maker schematics have been simplified to create a full stack of the appropriate ammunition. No longer requires an anvil. Reduced the materials required to make this ammunition.

I thought about it being a drop found on any robot you engineer... but the wording makes it specific to a single bot:

The schematic for this handsome robot was said to be hidden within the parts of another robothoping to be found by an engineer one day.

That says to me a single, lonely robot that's just roaming around. Which would be Dirkee.

Just to clarify, the Jeeves schematic has a chance to be "skinned" by engineers off of any level 70+ mechanical units. The drop rate starts incredibly low, but increases substantially based on the level and difficulty of the mechanical unit. So Ulduar bosses that can be "skinned" by engineers have a much better chance of dropping the schematic than lower-level mechanical units found in Northrend.

So the Brassbolt Rebreather is no more, then? =(

Any chance we can get it back?

The Rebreather has been replaced with the Frag Belt, correct.

Yea, yea, yea, big freaking deal, so for those people who don't raid, we are just SOL. Figures what else is new, dro[/skin rate might as well be .0000000000001 % all I give a dam now.

No. Not only did I not provide you with numbers, you're grossly embellishing even the imaginary numbers in your head. The lowest drop rate isn't nearly as bad as the rate you just conjured out of nowhere. Let the information sink in. In time, I trust you'll see this schematic is sensibly obtainable by non-raiding engineers. That said, Jeeves will certainly be most frequently used while raiding, so it's odd to expect the chances of obtaining the schematic wouldn't be increased in a raid where there are mechanical units.

Danger is part of the fun of being an engy I love it when stuff backfires!

I blasted into the air in Wintergrasp yesterday trying to escape several tenacity-buffed opponents with my Nitro Boosts. Even as I parachuted slowly down to my inevitable doom, I laughed quite hard at the situation, as I'm sure my enemies did as well. :p

Minor nit: "Salvaged" is a perfectly good term for this. I'd like to see it used more. That is all. Resume celebrations.

I like it. ;)

Also, thank you so much for being really available to us throughout this thread, Zarhym.

I just read back through all the posts again and saw what you wrote about the Jeeves schematic and the ways to obtain it. I'm so grateful for this information, since he's incredibly exciting news and I'm not someone who can really raid often. So, you'll see me salvaging all over Northrend as soon as the patch drops. >:3

Thanks so much, again, for the list and all of your responses! <3

You're welcome! I've also been compiling some of the feedback and suggestions found in this thread to send to our professions designers at their request. I will continue to monitor the posts here and on the PTR forum in the coming days. :)

Based on feedback in this thread about particular engineering items and schematics, we've made a few additional changes we'd like to share. Bear in mind again that this information is subject to change during the 3.2 testing process.

World Enlarger: Cooldown is now 15 minutes, down from 1 hour.

Mind Amplification Dish: A passive bonus of 45 stamina has been added to this tinker.

Nitro Boosts: Passive bonus is now 24 critical strike rating.

Frag Belt: The cooldown is now 6 minutes, down from 10 minutes.

Now the Nitro Boosts ... is that 24 Crit + 12 Hit, or just 24 Crit?

We increased the critical strike rating in place of the hit rating. We share the opinion that many have expressed that having the hit rating on the boots is going to be undesirable to a portion of players, so we removed it and buffed the crit rating.

Some players have asked that we allow the Nitro Boosts to come with a minor run speed increase since that enchant cannot be placed on boots with Nitro Boosts. We feel that adding a passive speed increase on top of the current functionality is a little too good, and want players to make a choice there between the enchant or the tinker, and whether or not to get the passive speed increase through the meta gem.

Will you continue to ignore the repeatedly brought up issue over druids in feral forms not being able to use bombs, or can that finally be fixed this patch?

I'm happy to say this is being fixed in 3.2. Using bombs should no longer cause a druid in form to be removed from that form.

Also, in 3.2 engineers will be able to switch between goblin and gnomish engineering for a fee.

I'm wondering... why are you guys avoiding talking about anything to do with goggles?

In all honesty, we do not have any new information to provide about goggles and 3.2. I will say that we have been tracking the feedback players have been providing for some time now about engineering goggles in Wrath of the Lich King and have a few ideas in mind, but nothing we can safely share with the community at the moment.

I'll let you in on a small secret -- if it wasn't already obvious from a post I made earlier in this thread -- my main character is an engineer and has been since he was first created over four years ago. From the moment I learned about Shadow Goggles I was sold on this profession. After gathering up my Naxxramas gear I stuck with the epic goggles over the tier-7 head piece just because I wanted to keep my look, regardless of any possible sacrifice to my stats.

Don't get me wrong, my personal interest in engineering isn't the reason I've become the mouthpiece through which we've been presenting everyone with information about 3.2 engineering changes; that's just happenstance pertaining to my role on the community team. I'm just saying that the fundamental reasons many people love engineering as a profession are shared by me. :)
