Prot Warriors: buff better than nothing
![]() Souran | So....
We got two buffs that do not even begin to really address our issues. As it is unless we get some additional buffs to aoe, damage, and our utility we are still the worst choice of tank to bring. If there is not more on the way then I am still thinking of switching to paladin and I am NOT a FOTM reroller type. I want a tank with a shield, and even though I have literally hundreds of hours with this character I am still seriously considering switching. Even after the paladin "test nerfs" I still don't see why a warrior would be a better choice for a raid than a paladin. When GC is saying that buffing warriors doesn't make sense because they are the most popular tank and it will only make them more popular it seems like what GC is really saying is that other classes will be allowed to be simply superior tanks to warriors in the hope to even out the population for a while. I didn't really mean for this to turn into a QQ post, espcially after getting buffs, but this seems like the second expansion where warriors have been exposed as having serious weaknesses to major aspects of the game and the "fix" again seems like it will take forever to come through. |

Let's follow that logic for a moment. Why would GC lie about this? Clearly we're not afraid to upset the community when Blizzard decides to nerf a particular class or spec or refuse to buff another class or spec. So what motivation could there possibly be to lie about this? To spare us the community's righteous indignation? We get that anyway. :) We think warrior tanks need some help. We do not think they are as far behind as some of these forum posts would have you believe, and we do not see many progression-oriented guilds replacing their warrior MTs. The arguments about who is the best tank tend to get pretty vicious because players think it could mean the difference between them getting to raid or not. Players play WoW because they're having fun. The vast majority of players do not participate in forum discussions. They're not hanging on in desperation because they think they might eventually get buffed at the end of the tunnel. They think it's worth having a subscription to WoW or they don't. Trying to somehow string players along as you suggest would not only be transparent to players, it would have a very limited impact given the size of the WoW player base. We value interaction with the community, but don't overstate the power of these forums. Ghostcrawler Lead Systems Designer |

There are some mechanics we'd like to change with warriors, as I have already stated. Having to spam Heroic Strike is definitely one of them. Rage starvation is never fun (which is not the same as "I can ignore rage.") This is a slightly different argument that whether or not warriors have the stats they need to do the job, which seems to be the bigger concern in this forum at the moment. I am personally not particularly interested in who is the "easier" tank. I don't think any of them are significantly different from each other. You still have to know when to use your cooldowns, when to swap your gear, how to coordinate with your raid and when it's you that's the problem and not your class. I think it's easy to argue against your point that warriors have not gotten a pretty hefty overhaul this expansion. We changed the warrior Protection tree a lot more than the paladin Protection tree or the Feral tree. We made you press Shield Block less often and Shield Wall more often. We changed Thunderclap and Devastate and Shield Slam and so forth. My point here is: don't dilute your arguments. I hear a lot of players saying that warrior survivability is lower than other tanks. Okay, that is feedback we can use. I hear them saying, as you did, that some of the mechanics still need to be updated. That is feedback we can use. Saying you are neglected or somehow other tanks got more changes than you or whatever... that is hard to use. We don't balance around "neglect." We balance around numbers. Theorycrafted numbers and simulations are valuable. Actual encounters with a boss are even more valuable. Ghostcrawler Lead Systems Designer |
