Hey I wanted to bring up an issue that is really important for Polish community (we're unable to receive an answer on official polish SC2 forums).
For past few weeks on Starcraft2-PL Facebook profile, we could see polish translations of Starcraft II unit names and they are pretty horrible to be honest with you. There's pretty big discussion about it on both official forums and fansites - sadly, we didn't get any official answer yet.
I don't expect everyone to understand Polish, but please take a look at this poll on Polish fansite. Question was - "Rate polish translation so far (1-5)" . Yeah, it's really that bad:
http://www.starcraft2.net.pl/portal/sc2/1/876/Zbior_najnowszych_polskich_tlumaczen_nazw_jednostek.html
We would really appreciate if blue could answer some questions we have:
1) Who will be responsible for Polish translation? Blizzard or Polish publisher?
2) All languages from Blizzard Europe (other, then Polish and Italian) have translator and game tester positions in your company (dedicated to World of Warcraft translation of course). Are those teams also gonna translate StarCraft II? If so, wouldn't that make Polish and Italian version slightly less supported?
3) Will there be an option to choose between English and Polish version when game is released? Or maybe we could register our "Polish cd-key" on battle.net account as English and download English game version?
I understand that those are just few names so far, but since we're unable to get any official statement, I think it's important to consider it being a problem atm.

We are aware of your questions and as soon as well can give you an answer to those questions, you will certainly recieve them in the Polish forums first.
Please be aware, that as a company we are committed to giving you the best quality possible. We want the players that experience the Polish version of the game to have as good of an experience as all other language versions do and we believe with the Polish version we are on a good track of delivering just that. Have some faith. :)

To be fair, we only got the mail from the fansite yesterday. Also, you should be a bit objective about translations and really consider what the task at hand is. The task is, to do translations that keep the feel and the meaning of the unit and of the universe. We want players that do not know any English to be able to understand what this game is about. Of course in the beginning a lot of things will sound strange, but you should really take a moment to think about it in depth and see what options there are and why the translation chosen could make sense.
In the end, it is of my opinion that humans are very much creatures of habit. Right now a lot of the StarCraft: Brood War fans are used to the English names and all translations will sound alien. We had the same reactions when in World of Warcraft names were translated that had been English for a long time. Nowadays it is hardly a topic any more. People have gotten used to the translations.
That being said, we do appreciate feedback about this topic. We are monitoring the Polish forums and are aware of your feedback. I can assure you, this has been a topic here already.

Will Polish users be able to download the English version of SC2 on Blizzard site? I much prefer the the English one to the localized one.
