Design An Encounter Contest

You won't be penalized if you don't, but try to give a decent idea of how threatening the ability is to the raid. Something at tier 3 that does 5,000 damage is a lot more of a risk than something at tier 8 that does 5,000, for example, so raw numbers alone won't really tell the whole story.

I have another question. You said that we cannot use WoW characters as bosses, unless we do not actually interact with them in WoW. Fair enough. However, does this also apply to other NPC`s that participate in the fight and/or scripted events?
The reason I ask is that particularly more notable characters will have many aquaintances among characters with which we do interact with. If we are not allowed to use any of them, it could make designing scripted events rather akward.

That's fine. I want this to not be about killing a boss you already kill in WoW, however if you want to have a major character pop up and do something as part of a script, just remember that using a major lore character leaves an expectation that something epic is going to happen.

Just saying thanks for the reminder about completing the designs. I am really glad that this was made into a contest... my personal idea I have had since seeing a movie of an empty Karazhan. I saw where the Shade of Aran's room was and had an instant (and in my opinion a downright awesome) idea for a boss encounter. Hope the mods aren't finding reading all of these a hassal, should be fun :-) Best of luck judging.

Already submitted my idea ~week ago, but got an awesome one which in the end I didnt submit due to probably being too hard to execute. Involved repeatly controlling someone elses character throughout the boss, but in the end, I thought that making the hotbars etc. to work would be too much of a hassle.
Could have finally gotten to whine to rogues about not healing properly though :'(

I'm getting them up today, so I'll make sure to announce when they're available for ratings (and how long the rating process will last). I won't make any promises on when they'll be available, as we received a LOT of new submissions with the most recent reminder, and I want to make them presentable.

Oh that's nice to hear. I can understand it would be alot of work to convert all the submissions to a presentable format. What is this 'presentable format' anyway, could you give us some insight? Will each submission get a (possibly locked) forum thread or something? Would the community be able to ask questions and offer suggestions, and could the authors of the submissions reply / clarify in one form or another? If there will be no forum threads or the threads are locked by default, is there some kind of rule that authors are not allowed to mingle in the ongoing discussion? This could be hard to enforce since people can simply create a dummy account (even if that's cheating).
I've submitted my entry on saturday, and ofcourse I found a few grammatical and spelling errors when I re-read it the next morning. A certain paragraph was even quite misleading due to choice of words. Would it be possible to make purely cosmetical, non-conceptual changes post release, either through WoR or under supervision? I could understand if the rules are strictly enforced here, as it could be alot of hassle for the contest organization.
I understand you got alot of work on your hands due to this competition, but it would be appreciated if you could clear some of these things up.

Im guessing the presentation is different from your word document when copied to a forums, like sentences end at different areas, things probably would not be in Bold or Italics or certain fonts/colors etc etc. I think that's what it means... In regards to spelling, I'm sure they said to review it before submitting
