Threat meter

A new builtin threat meter frame has been discovered recently. By typing

/console showThreatMeter 1
/script function IsThreatWarningEnabled() return 1; end

into the console, a familiar threat meter is added to the user interface when needed, which shows colored bars under the name of the currently targeted enemy. The bars are colored as one would expect it, red for the aggroholder, and grey to orange shades for partymembers. Currently the bars don't change their length and there are other bugs, too.

Inscription

A few days ago we wrote about Inscription in general. Today we have another update on the unlock of glyph slots. Now we know at what level, what type of glyph slots are accessible.

  • level 15 unlocks 1 Major and 1 Minor glyph slot
  • level 30 unlocks the 2nd Minor
  • level 45 unlocks the 2nd Major
  • level 60 unlocks 1 Major and 1 Minor
  • Glyph Mastery - an Inscription only skill unlocks a 7th slot, currently unknown what skill level or what type of glyph

That means a Death Knight starts with 2 Major and 2 Minor slots.

Training Dummies

Posted Image Posted Image

That's something we forgot mention in our previous build 8885 coverages, but Blizzard added training dummies to the game, you can find some of them in the sewers of Dalaran, thanks to them players can run DPS benchmarks and else. The training dummies became really popular on beta and they are getting an update in the next build:
Quote from: Kalgan (Source)

In an upcoming update one of the dummies will be level 80 with normal lvl 80 mob stats, the other will be a "boss" dummy with normal lvl 80 boss mob stats.

Gun'drak mystery

With the addition of Gun'drak, Akali's platform in Zul'drak has been upgraded. He is still chained and tortured by the Prophet of Akali to gain powers to fight the Scourge, but the platform itself is now see-through.

After exploring the dungeon, it is clear, that Akali's platform offers a peek into the central part of the instance. The level 76-78 instance has 2 separate entrances close to this platform, both start by taking players down below the surface using an elevator. Here they shortly come across the previously seen part where they must solve a puzzle to unlock the last boss, Prophet of Akali.

This makes us wonder, what does the currently unused main fortress of Gun'drak hold? Due to its massive size our best bet is on a raid instance that would be introduced after Naxxramas, Nexus, Chamber of Aspects and Ulduar or a second dungeon wing for high level players.

I hope they make some craftable dummies that you can place anywhere, or at least add more than only a few dummies. Or else the training area will get extremely crowded.

There's also the problem of debuffs on the dummies. Can just imagine people going "Could you please stop attacking, I would like to see my dps without X debuff".
And the opposite if the dummies can't recieve debuffs...

I'll repost what I said on WoWInsider:

"Doubt it'll happen. People could just afk and max out weapon skills in a few hours. If Blizz wanted weapon skill to be that trivial, they'd just remove it entirely."

I believe all the various target dummies around the world will work too. Like the ones in Orgrimmar and Theramore. So you won't be forced to do it in Dalaran.

That would be pretty neat, and I'm actually really glad to see it, its something that I hadn't even thought of, but after hearing about it, its great :) I just wish they would make the last level of weapon skill NOT impossible to get : As a rogue, I've been stuck at 349 gun skill through at least 30 stacks of bullets >.<

Would be good to instance a part of the sewer with the training dummies (and anything else) but I guess that is over the top. Of more use would be the ability to open a configurable window on a training dummy and specify what debuffs it has on it. Again not likely to happen.

I really don't get why they just don't remove weapon skill, or make you automatically learn it based on your level.
It was logical back in early wow when there were items who worked with the skills, but these days it's a mere annoyance with no reason behind it. Feral druids already have this luxury, would make sense to rid the rest of the wow world rid of this evil too.

The weaponskill really aren't that annoying what I think. I even think it's good that people don't know how to wield all of weapons when the only one they every used was a 2h mace, or something.

But casters never need to train skill on their caster staff/sword etc to be able to hit good enough with their spells. They always got X% to hit, no matter how crap their 1h sword/dagger skill is. :S

So either take it away complete or add something for casters aswell. :D

And for warriors it's really easy to gain weaponskill. Just go to stockades and spam hamstring and you'll be at 350 in an hour or so (from 1). I've done this everytime I use a new weapon since vanilla WoW. 300-350 go quick. :)
This spot is reserved for those annoying signatures. I refuse to have any signature!

Hey I like Omen!!!

I think the threatmeter is good, but I need to see it in action on whether I'd stick with the in-game version or Omen's

There are certain easy ways of levelling your weapon skills w/o directly exploiting the game. On my Rogue I have all my weapon skills maxed with minimal effort.

Training Dummies are a nice Idea, lets just hope they are enough to go around. Another idea would be that the Debuff/Data u see are related to your char only allowing multiple people to use them but that wont happen :(

Weapon Skills are very annoying I have to agree healers dont need em, casters dont... Its only poor Melee that have to. If u swap from swords to axes or axe to fists etc and U need to learn skills again it sucks. I hope Blizzard give u xxx weapon skills for level or just remove it.

Alterntively if Max skill is 475 for example. then let the dummies train you to 400 ? then u have to work on last 75 yourself which isint so bad :)
