Blizzard devs talk about class changes in Wrath of the Lich King

Death Knight

  • Developers don't want talent trees to be pigeonholed into specific roles. Each tree will be functional both roles.
  • Runes have a 10 second separate cooldown
  • Army of the Undead will make players feel like how the Lich King feels when he commands the Scourge to attack
  • All races are confirmed to have Death Knights. The Lich King wants them all :)

Hunter

  • Steady Shot will no longer clip Auto Shot, meaning it won't have to be timed, just spammed :)
  • The skill point system of pets will be replaced with Pet Talents, one tree for utility, one tree for tanking and one tree for DPS
  • A new ability will make the pet deal extra 20% damage when on 20% health

Mage

  • Mage Armor will be reworked to reduce harmful debuff durations
  • New ability: Frostfire Bolt. In itself it's not as good as Frostbolt or Fireball, but when the player talents into both Frost and Fire, Frostfire Bolt will be better.
  • Devs will make sure Mages are kings of AoE damage, and scaling up their damage to be viable

Shaman

  • Totems will affect the entire raid!
  • Strength of Earth and Grace of Air will be merged
  • Windfury will be changed, so that druids are affected by it too. It's no longer a weaponbuff, but a buff.
  • Rockbiter Weapon will be replaced with Earthliving Weapon which increases healing done
  • Flametongue Weapon will increase spell damage
  • New ability: Hex. Emergency CC spell that leaves movement control for the hexxed player, but is unable to cast spells. 0.5sec casting time, 8-10sec duration

Rogue

  • Sap will work on not only humanoid targets, but on pretty much everything that has a brain
  • New ability: Fan of Knives. Similar to the Warden spell in Warcraft 3. Short AoE

Warrior

  • New talent: Titan Grip is now confirmed. Allows the Warrior to wield Two-Hand weapons in both hands.
  • New ability: Shockwave. Helps prot warriors dealing damage
  • New talent: Bladestorm. Similar to WC3 spell
  • Devs want warriors to feel more like the warriors in Warcraft 3

Warlock

  • New talent: transforms the warlock into "Illidan demon form". One of the available spells in demon form is an AoE shadowbolt that can be spammed!
  • New ability: Demonic Circle. Small area where the warlock can teleport back into and decreases pet summoning time

Paladin

  • Retribution itemization will be moved even closer to Warrior and Death Knight itemization
  • New ability: Hand of Purity. Reactive healing spell

Priest

  • New ability: Divine Hymn. New holy spell that allows the priest to heal the entire party. When a partymember is struck they go into a trance.
  • New 51 point shadow talent: Dispersion. 90% incoming damage reduction, 6% health/mana regen. The priest can move, but cannot cast spells. Allows a new form of defense against melee to make Shadow Priests more viable in highend Arena PVP
  • New talent: Guardian Spirit. Prevents friendly target from being killed. A pet that gives "Cheat Death" to the target, if the player would die, the spirit pet dies instead

Druid

  • Entangling Roots will work indoors as well, to help druids get into heroic groups
  • New ability: Flourish. 1.5sec casting time healing spell, its effectiveness depends a lot on what HoT effects are on the target
  • Cyclone won't be changed
  • Potions, on-hit effects and items will work in forms.

What did they say about bear and cat form when the crowd cheered the loudest (the only time I heard the crowd practically) during the Q&A? I missed it.

I heard druids will be able to use chance on hit effects, items etc in forms
.Meaning we get windfury, mongoose, pots in forms etc.
(so quite the reason to cheer)

Shamans going into good direction(i play with paladin but allways backed up any good changes for my shaman brethrens), warlocks getting AOC form skill copy.
About paladins mechanism there are ALOT work, its 1 of oldest mechanism in game mostly unchanged from beta game(yes few new skills but mechanism is old and too much automatic).
So to improve paladin there will need to make alot of sweat.

Titans Grip - WTF ? OP ? Like they cant pummel shit into the ground fast enough with a 2H they get to Duel Wield.

Shammy Totems are gr8 affecting the whole raid ... the new Hex spell will have to see how that pans in pvp cause it seems strong

Warlock cant wait to see the demon form and how powerful it is, Would like to have heard about any new demons for summon or upgrades to infernals / doomguards cause atm those suck

Except for the totems this is not news really.
About the dual wielding 2H's, it's a fury warrior thing. Now when did you last see a fury warrior pummel anything fast (not in pvp anyway).

Some of them sounds like a change that could be useable, but some of them are so damn wicked.. Hope the majority of them are jokes..

while over all the totem thing is a buff

but dosent that pose a problem with the totem that reduces threat generation? it pretty much makes it unusable? unless it will still be party only.

You guys have seen that talent right? It increases the attack speed significantly, its just a variation for PvE. I'm fairly certain you won't see too many fury warriors PvP'ing with it, so stop your whinging about something that could very well be changed significantly by release.

@Nazd: They're not jokes. Been confirmed on the alpha wiki for ages, and this was straight from Blizzard's mouth at the WWI panel.

@ShadoFall: Good point. They'll still have a limited range, but that kind of thing is very difficult to tweak (unless there's some visible delimiter of totem ranges so the warrior can stand just beyond the glowing circle or something, THAT would be cool). Not sure how they'll solve that one. Party-only would make it less useful and probably not often used anyway.

well its only really used now in usualy your group with your hardest hitters in your raid. wich after a while you will know who needs it LOL

i just hope it isnt an over site.

Will this mean if a shaman drops Windfury totem, and also drops a Flametongue totem...
Will they stack?
And will the Flametongue totem bring +spelldmg then...
Oh and the best one..
Will this mean shamans, will be able to get double up Windfury?

Not to burst your bubble but
Read the windfury part.
It is a buff, not a weapon enhancement.
Means, you won't even be ABLE to do totem twisting.

There are allways some crosspoints between games, in world of mmo aoc gave this abilities first. Same story is with seige weapons, keeps etc imo we can argue who was first with this idea but imo only matters who first put from theory in mmo world.

Well, considering the fact demon forms were initiated with boss fights before AoC came out, it's obvious who implicated them first. Regardless if it's an NPC or a player - WoW had the CONCEPT first.

Raid wide mana tide... 4 Resto shamans = full mana for whole raid.

i fear it will be nerfed.
