The Cataclysm beta patch notes have been updated. Anything changed is green, anything new has a *NEW* tag.

Quote

Zones
  • Mount Hyjal and Vashj'ir, two new level 80-82 zones, are available for testing. Deepholm, a new level 82-83 zone is available for testing. Players may find their way to these zones by speaking with temporary teleportation NPCs located in any major city.
  • Arathi Highlands, Blasted Lands, The Cape of Stranglethorn, Dun Morogh, Duskwood, Eastern Plaguelands, Elwynn Forest, Hinterlands, Loch Modan, Northern Stranglethorn, Northshire, Redridge Mountains, Silverpine Forest, Tirisfal Glades, Western Plaguelands and Westfall are ready for testing.

Dungeons & Raids
  • Blackrock Caverns, a new level 80-81 five-player dungeon, is available for testing.
  • Throne of the Tides, a new level 80-81 five-player dungeon, is available for testing.

Paladin
  • *NEW* We are in the process of overhauling many paladin talents, spells and abilities. Expect updates in upcoming patches.

Professions
  • *NEW* Reforging should now be accessible via NPCs in the major capital cities.

User Interface
  • *NEW* Raid frames are now available and have temporarily replaced the standard party frames so that players can test them.

Known Issues
  • *NEW* Battleground queues are undergoing significant changes and are not currently operational.
  • *NEW* After creating a new character, selecting a character at the Character Selection screen will cause players to login with the wrong character. To correct this, the character list needs to be refreshed by logging out and back in, switching realms and then switching back, or logging into and back out of the realm.
  • *NEW* Players are currently unable to create new worgen characters.

So can you now not start any Cataclysm content until 80?

Personally I like the changes to the zone levels, All cata content should be 80+ then at least u stand a chance of having a area at max lvl etc. Currently with faster leveling and the like U can getto 80 in wotlk without touching like 3 zones.. and thats a goldmine.

3 Areas? It can be done with 4 untouched, and quests to spare, and no heirlooms.

Hit Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord, Dragonblight, and Zul'Drak, and my Druid went from 70 > 80. That left me with Grizzly Hills, Sholazar Basin, Storm Peaks, and Icecrown to earn gold in. With Heirlooms, could have spared about half of Zul'Drak at least.

Or there is my Hunter. He hit Hellfire Pennisula at 66, and dinged 70 (pre-WotLK) in mid-Terrokar. He's now 71 and just finishing Nagrand (No heirlooms either). I think he should ding 80 by around... Dragonblight?

To be honest that seems fair. They would have had to dramatically increase either the number of quests or the XP per quest in the two Cataclysm starting zones to hit the 78-82 target. I had full rested the entire time I have played Cataclysm, started at 80 and had to go to do a few quests in the zone I hadn't started in just to get to 82 (Requred to get the Deepholm quest).

Though I will admit that I had (And still have) major phasing problems preventing me from completing a quest chain. But even if I had done those quests I would have not hit 82 if I had started at 78.

I agree.

I disliked the idea that you could hit Outland at 58 and Northrend at 68. I have a hunter who is 66 and he hasn't even left Zangarmarsh; I have a rogue who is 67 and isn't even done with Nagrand.

The leveling changes they've made overall I don't like, certainly where XP bonuses of all kinds come into play.

Leveling is supposed to be a reward for doing something, not a mechanic you simply breeze through and barely notice.

The graphics on your news roller still reflect the zones as 78-82.

As far as the changes, it doesn't make much difference to me. I level in BGs whilst farming herbs and such when in queue =P

Possibly to implement the missing starting cinematics/sounds?
Sounds plausible atleast :)

The not being able to do cataclysm content before lvl 80 will suck for rerolls tho, Northrend will be deserted so meh.

It's since the model is a massive WIP at the moment.
