This year's Love is in the Air holiday event is now underway! There are some updates to it for the 2010 edition including new daily quests and a special event-specific boss encounter in Shadowfang Keep. This news will be updated during the day with more information as it becomes available.

Shadowfang Keep Boss - Apothecary Hummel

You gain access to a new boss encounter in Shadowfang keep -- Apothecary Hummel -- by doing the daily quest You've Been Served. Since Boubouille managed to check out the event on the European servers last night, he put together some information on the encounter. You can find it on MMO-Champion.

Main Quest Series

The Steamwheedle Cartel thinks the Crown Chemical Co. is up to something, and you're sent to investigate their actions.

Quest 1: Uncommon Scents / Uncommon Scents
Players will need to visit Detective Snap Snagglebolt in Orgrimmar or Investigator Snip Snagglebolt in Stormwind to let the Steamwheedle Cartel know you're interested in helping investigate the Crown Chemical Co.

Quest 2: Something Stinks / Something Stinks
For this quest you're given an item called Snagglebolt's Air Analyzer and you must use it on 6 heavily perfumed guards found around either Orgrimmar or Stormwind, and then return to the investigator.

Quest 3: Pilfering Perfume / Pilfering Perfume
To complete this quest you'll need to disguise yourself as a Crown Chemical Co. package-runner and go outside of Orgrimmar or Stormwind. There you'll find the company's stockpile of goods; simply run near it to have a package handed off to you. Return this package to the investigator.

Quest 4: Snivel's Sweetheart / Fireworks At The Gilded Rose
The package you brought back contained chemical-filled rockets made by Snivel Rustrocket. The investigator wants you to find out more information on Snivel by talking to his girlfriend. Horde players will need to visit Roka at Gotri's Traveling Goods in Orgrimmar, and Alliance players will need to speak with Marion Sutton at the Gilded Rose in Stormwind.

Quest 5: Hot On The Trail / Hot On The Trail
Snivel has run off and his girlfriend now wants you to track him down. They send you to search the bank, auction house and barber shop in hopes of finding him. Once searching all three places in your respective capital city, return to Roka or Marion Sutton.

Quest 6: A Friendly Chat... / A Friendly Chat...
By this point it's obvious that Snivel was up to no good with the rockets and he's trying to get out of the city. You're asked to go to the East zeppelin tower outside of Orgrimmar if Horde, or the Stormwind Harbor if Alliance, and question Snivel -- eventually getting his ledger. Return the ledger to the investigator and he will send you off to Shadowfang Keep with Man on the Inside / Man on the Inside.

Daily Quests

No longer will you have to do the annoying once-an-hour ritual of logging in various characters to collect the city-specific gifts. Now you must give the city leaders Lovely Charm Bracelets by combining 10 Lovely Charms. First visit Kwee Q. Peddlefeet in your capital city and get a Lovely Charm Collector's Kit from him. Now you will receive Lovely Charms by landing killing blows on any creature that would grant experience.

Faction Leaders
Each of these quests rewards 5x[Love Token] and a city card which grants a 1-hour buff to a single attribute. They can each be repeated once per day.

Horde

• A Gift for the Banshee Queen

Alliance

• A Gift for the High Priestess of Elune

Crown Chemical Product Dailies
One of the following daily quests will be available each day. They reward 5x[Love Token] upon completion.

• A Cloudlet of Classy Cologne
  
• A Perfect Puff of Perfume
  
• Bonbon Blitz
  

Crushing the Crown
The Steamwheedle Cartel wants players level 5 and above to kill NPCs in various zones. The daily quest given -- called Crushing the Crown -- is based on your level and will pit you against NPCs as well as the task of destroying a wagon in the zone. Completing the quest rewards 5x[Love Token].

You do not need to do the Uncommon Scents quest series to be able to start the event where you can kill the NPCs in SFK. I did it in a group with 4 people who hadn't even started the series yetm and with me being the only one who had completed the series, and we still managed to engage, and kill them 5 times total.

The whole event became a lot easier by changing the style to that of brewfest/hallows end.

if it's more fun is personal opinion.


At least the boss mechanics are interesting, having a lot from twin valkyrs.

The perfume/cologne zones make a rather interesting idea for the future aswell, allthough it makes this trio more unique in setup

by the way currently the fastest way to get the charms to make the bracelets is simply going into ulduar and killing mobs in the starting event there. i got over 1000 of the charms (which comes out to over 100 bracelets) in under an hour
