Hello all readers of this very light corner of WoR Forums! I'm back and this time, rather than providing a story, I've decided to show you what i've learned and let you take a peek behind the curtain as to what is coming in the tubes.

Starting from the beginning, I had a name, a race, but no place. Bakthar, an elf related to Grand Magister Rommath in Silvermoon, fit into several stories I started, one involving Kalecgos and the Sunwell Trilogy, one involving Blood Knights; I had a huge problem finding Bakthar's home. Then came the WotLK Beta. I became fascinated with the Death Knight and their relatively shallow past. Bakthar found a home. Shaping his background led to my own admission to my friend and fanfiction inspiration that he is a Mary Sue (technically a Gary Sue) in Fanfiction terms (WIKIPEDIA PEOPLE! IT IS YOUR BEST FRIEND). If you read episode 1 you get what I mean.

I started with just the first three chapters; that was all I knew about the saga. I showed my friends who actually had an imagination and they loved it. A few even begged me to finish it. I knew then Bakthar's story had to be episodic; it could not be told in one single fragment.

I finished EP 1 and realized I had a problem. What to do next?! Episode 2 had to be more epic than the last. At that point, WotLK was just days from release and I only knew bits and peices of Northrend. I knew about Malygos and his whole deal in the beginning chapters of the expansion so I decided to start there first. Going through EP 2, I realized this "Book 1" as I know call it could not just be about Bakthar; It had to be about his allies, his friends. I borrowed names from my friends characters (Slash is Slashftw from Haomarush, Healy is Healyboo from Undermine). To be honest, the entire section of Healy's death in 2 was a jab at the real person who plays her, who is very annoying (sorry ash, you are) .

I realized no good story is without a love subplot from the beginning. I tried to incorporate that with Valeera Sanguinar, but I read up more on her and decided against it. Dutchess Mynx, the Ebon Blade Quartermaster, was a prime target; No past, no lore, no identity, just wares.

Mynx as a character evolved from the girl that followed you like a puppy to that person you want to be with forever in Bakthar's eyes. The background I put for her, originally, was that she was the fallen Princess of Silvermoon, with no memory of it at all until her death in a raid on Zul'mashar. I decided that the set of events, while fitting of Bakthar's "O hai I'm Sue" status, was not right. I tossed it out, and decided to make the set permanent for the rest of the series. This set will be revealed in the Repost of episode 2 if you read carefully compared to the original, and will also be a major part of the upcoming episode 5.

The Future of the Series
Right now, both 3 and 5 are at least in writing somewhere. 3 has taught me one thing: never write anything involving a large amount of named characters while trying to work backwards; not fun. (The Chapters involving Thorim and Hodir were written [chronologically] in the opposite order and the entire deal with Iron Council isn't even started at the time of this posting) 5 has taken shape from my vision of what will happen in four. NOT SHARING EVEN IF YOU BEG. Sorry!

Episode 4: Call of the Crusade
Episode 5: Salvation
Episode 6: Cataclysmic Circumstances
