Two big blue posts today, one about the increase to drop rates for Battered Hilt, and another for the latest 3.3 hotfixes.

Battered Hilt and Epic Drop Rate Changes

Firstly, we are increasing the drop rate of the Battered Hilt in all three wings of this Heroic five-player dungeon. We have seen a great deal of discussion about this item’s chance of dropping since the release of patch 3.3.0 and agree that it is currently too low. As a result, players should find greater accessibility to this item while running these dungeons, or while trading with other players who have it.

In light of this change, we are also removing the chance for the Battered Hilt or any other epic item to drop from the Skeletal Slaves in the Pit of Saron. The need to “farm” these creatures for the Battered Hilt should be reduced by our first in-game fix and will no longer result in a chance for epic loot or Battered Hilts.

You’re welcome to discuss these changes in this thread and provide us with any additional feedback you may have. Please refrain from creating additional threads about these in-game fixes at this time.

what kind of effect does this have? since it was a quest i assumed you could only do it once? so making it unique doesn't really change anything? or have i missed something?

You can only do the quest once so it isn't possible someone had 2.

That's the deal, you can't farm it anymore, only by doin the 3 HC's every day

well actually you could faction change and then do the quest again.

I think the reason for this was so that people would SEE that it's only possible to get one sword and not buy a second hilt hoping to dual wield them and then being disappointed when they went to right click to start the quest. Basically, advertising that you can only get/use one.

Of course, this doesn't stop someone from thinking they can get one for their heal spec and one for their dps or something, so it's still not perfect.

what I'm wondering is that if you already have the sword/mace, can you loot another Hilt? Is the hilt and the sword tied together in uniqueness?

I think he's poking fun at how Blizzard has had that topic mispelled for the past week.

Only if you did it within the first couple days since after that it became faction specific and would give an error.
