What does this mean, exactly? You'll be required to have a Battle.net account soon for World of Warcraft. This is of course in preparation for Battle.net 2.0, which was talked about at BlizzCon this year. A step closer to the StarCraft II beta? I sure hope so!

Starting on November 11, all World of Warcraft players will need to log in to the game using a Battle.net username and password, and anyone who wishes to create a new World of Warcraft account will need to start with a Battle.net account.

It sucks having to type in the email yes, but it beats having a hacker attach your account to a battlenet account and having to go thru the recovery process.. expecialy if they do it when customer service is closed on the weekend. *cough*happenedtome*cough*

It probably will be account bound like the bear which will allow you to just send it to the worgen/goblin.

The penguin will be delivered to all existing characters by mail, and I believe to future characters in the mail on character creation. Similar to the collector's edition pets.

It's possible at the moment. When you have multiple WoW accounts attached to a single Battle.net account it asks which you want to log in to before sending you to character select.

I actually got hacked on Friday just gone (my own damn fault, used a PC at work to check my guild calendar, even though I knew that the damn flash update kept failing to install :/)

Anyway, customer service was available on Saturday and Sunday for me. Admittedly they keep forgetting to characters so I have to raise another ticket, but they shouldn't be shut for the weekend.

Anyway, yeah, I'm already merged. Wished I had done it earlier really. I'm just lucky that what happened to you (and a guild mate of mine two weeks ago) didn't happen to me.

Honestly, if you can, do it now. Everyone waiting until the 11/11 will just bog the merge service down. You guys want pre-made-copy-esque timers tied to an important change to your account? Quick! Chop chop!

Well the longer it is, harder to crack by hackers imho!

The Battle.net account thing makes it more streamlined for those that have multiple accounts not to now have to remember various passwords, etc. I did add my secondary account to Battle.net last night to just check out so I could advise my guild if they ask, and it seems fine. To me it is a tad nice, as the merger also put my Blizzard Authenticator to that one as well.

Just like anything this company does, good or bad (based on your side of it) is always debated upon til the end of time. Some will hate it, some will love it. Some, like me, will like it to a point to just do it if I wish to continue to play the game I enjoy.

Those that plan to just quit because of this were most likely had one foot on the way out the door anyways.
