DIRECTV Streams - Grunty Now Available
As a heads up for those of you that ordered the BlizzCon stream through DIRECTV, you can now get your Grunty. The emails should have gone out by now, and you can claim your pet by visiting the BlizzCon pet website. And for what it's worth, this will be linked to your Battle.net account, so any WoW accounts you have on that Battle.net account will receive the pet, as will any characters you create in the future (Goblins and Worgen rejoice).

Battleground experience improvements hotfix (Source)
The nerf to experience gains in Alterac Valley in 3.2.2 was not intentional. It was a side effect of the level bracket change. Again, we've applied a hotfix to substantially increase experience gains across the board for all Battlegrounds. Alterac Valley experience gains should now be better than they were immediately following the patch. Experience gains in all other Battlegrounds should now be better than they ever have been.
Alterac Valley experience gains not changed in 3.2.2 (Source)
The experience gains in Alterac Valley were not adjusted in patch 3.2.2. The gains were percentage-based according to level brackets. Since the level brackets changed in 3.2.2, the experience gains decreased as a result. Because of this, we've added an across-the-board increase to experience gains in all Battlegrounds to compensate for the adverse affect on Alterac Valley that came as a result of the level bracket changes, as well as make gaining experience in our other Battlegrounds more viable.
AP debuff importance for raids (Source)
The original concern was for a 10-player group. We don't assume an AP debuff for a 10-player raid, though it is certainly nice to have. We assume you have it in a 25-player raid. We make some assumptions about the most important buffs and debuffs for larger raids, particularly those trying the heroic / hard mode content. Those include things like Replenishment, Fort, Kings, Gift, Bloodlust / Heroism, CoE, the AP debuff, Sunder Armor, the attack speed debuff, and maybe Scorch and a few others. Even in those cases you don't need every buff / debuff the game offers and even if you're missing one of the big ones, you can overcome that with enough skill (or gear). The bosses don't do an instant berserk if they detect you are missing Demo Shout. Yes, it will be harder without. Hard modes are for guilds capable of doing hard modes. Normal modes are for almost everyone.
Fortunately, Demo Shout isn't hard to get. No, you can't just randomly assemble any 10 characters and have a strong raid comp. But you certainly have a lot more flexibility in how you assemble your groups than in the BC content, and the proof of that is in the enormous diversity of raids that are beating the encounters.
Some of these posters believe that all tanks must have certain abilities or Things Aren't Fair. That's not a design goal of ours, but I understand that it's subjective and your opinion might differ. We want to make sure all four tanking classes can tank every encounter within a reasonable degree of each other, and for the most part we've met that goal. We don't want to give every tank the same tools or abilities. You can joke about flavor if you want, but it's important to us, and one of the things that we think has helped keep WoW fresh even after nearly five years.
Solution to Varimathras quest issues coming in 3.3 (Source)
A bronze whelp delivers the following note, which certainly doesn't seem to be in Sylvanas' hand:
Deathhorne,
You're right. Someone has to fill the void and take care of business. I'll take that scroll from you when I get to my post.
- B
There's no further signature, but oddly, it seems to be dated "3.3"...
Brewfest: Ram racing quest (Source)
I'm just popping in to confirm this resets every 18 hours, not 12 as has been the case in previous years.
If you're looking for the exclamation mark, you won't see it, as it's not a quest. Speak with the ram master and he should have a gossip option to set you to delivering kegs.
Now We're Cookin' (Source)
Some holiday achievements require near maximum-level PvE content. This remains so even if people aren't inclined to reach maximum level.
Some holiday achievements require players to go into battlegrounds. This remains so even if people aren't inclined to get honorable kills on their character.
And, yes, some holiday achievements require skill in a secondary profession, and we have no plans to change that.
The holiday achievements are not necessary to advance your character. If you want a title or the mount reward at the very end of What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been, however, you will have to participate at least marginally in all these aspects of the game.
The holidays are designed to allow a large breadth of the playerbase to participate in some form, and there's normally something for you to do within the holiday itself. How much you choose to participate is up to you. If you choose to pursue the achievements, then you will have to participate in all these aspects of gameplay. That is absolutely by design and not something we plan to change currently.
That said, if leveling your cooking for Winter Veil seems like a tedious task, I suggest you wait until Pilgrim's Bounty.... :)
"Things are working as intended" (Source)
For what it's worth, we don't do that.
When you think about it, we don't have a lot of motivation to lie and if you've been around these forums much, you'd know that we don't have a problem making un-sugarcoated decisions that cause outrage on the forums when we think those decisions are good for the game. If we're happy with the way something works, we'll say that. If something is a bug, we'll admit that too.
In the case of Shadow priests, we thought damage was a little low and made a very small adjustment. Many Shadow priests think their dps is still unacceptably low, but we don't agree. (That also doesn't mean we won't make changes in the future. We do change our minds.) Vanish failing is a bug, but it's a hard one to fix, and rogues are dominant in both PvE and PvP despite of it, so it's also not a "all hands on deck" problem either.
So there you have two cases of our not "covering up problems." My job is not to "incite confidence from the player base." Ultimately players will play WoW if they enjoy it and will stop playing if they don't. Some players come to these forums to express opinions and give feedback, and we are grateful for that because they do ultimately make the game better. But I'm not really out here "selling" anything. If you like WoW, keep playing it!
Why did the new Onyxia die so fast? (Source)
The new Onyxia is meant to be more of a celebration of the 5 years of World of Warcraft and not a progression encounter. The way it is setup is for as many people as possible to still enjoy in the game and get some extra bonus loot/emblems/bags/gems on top of that.
On top of that, players certainly understand the game much better now than they did when Onyxia first came out. This became pretty clear when people didn't get much better gear but were able to kill her with fewer and fewer players even at level 60.
Shaman
Bloodlust / Heroism and its impact on raids (Source)
Bloodlust / Heroism is a very strong buff. No argument here. I can understand the point of view of players who think other specs need to offer it. Currently three specs offer it, but they are also specs that fill relatively different roles. The fact that all three specs belong to one class makes it a special case.
In general, we balance 25 hard mode content assuming you have 1 shaman for Bloodlust or Heroism. We balance 10 hard modes without that assumption, though you still need to have a reasonable mix of the stronger buffs. We don't think that typically replacing a good say mage with a bad shaman will turn a failure into a success, but each group is a little different so it is possible.
