US First Heroic: Alone in the Darkness

Posted Image

Congratulations to Premonition on their US first, world third kill of Yogg-Saron with no keepers!

This kill was a long time coming. We were working on it for weeks (months?) and theorycraft began ages ago. All of the silly forum threads and "math" that proved it impossible were quite obviously not even close to accurate.

The progression phases a raid goes through on this fight while learning are just amazing. From how to keep ahead in phase 2, maximizing stun times, getting all corruptors down, then dealing with mob handling in phase 3... with your tanks having extremely limited time, sanity, and tons of pressure to even figure out what they have to do to maximize efficiency, while your DPS is trying to not lose their own sanity while the boss is killed.

It was an absolute blast, Blizzard truly designed something marvelous here, and we were very excited to know it wasn't going to be nerfed after all (reducing the number of beacons that go out would really ruin the complexity and ways to handle phase 3).

Great job by everyone in guild, and our members who couldn't be there, and especially our trials who stuck it out. Much respect to STARS and Paragon.

Video will be coming, frostmage/tank PoV.

[quote=Devium]"On behalf of Premonition I would like to publicly apologize for the generate retardation of Zaroua.

As funny as it is to now see it posted on the main page of mmo-champion.com, we did kill it, but we didn't do it using any kind of complex fade strategy. We did play amazingly well, and our only death on it was one mage that died early, we were pretty close to flawless.

Don't want people to get the wrong impression, we didn't find some gimmick or cheese or anything like that."

[quote=Xav]"Well now that the spoilsport ruined it.

We used a split strategy where we have two tanks (myself, Rekt) picking up and making piles of immortals (alternating who grabs them, with a feral druid (darthn) taking the spawns during beacon times, we later taunt those off him). When one of the tanks has 3 or more beacons on their pile when we split, our hunter (KYRIDEL) pulls 1 off to make a 2/1/2 split. If there was 4 or more on one side we had our dk (DEVIUM) taunt one off to make a 1/1/2/1 split.

Our strategy basically relied on our one hunter doing a lot of hard work."

If you want to change the link to the "actual strat" =P.

But all in all, im surprised 2 more guilds downed this so soon after stars. Figured everyone still took ensidia as all knowing and figured it was still "impossible"

I think it is Fires of Heaven you are thinking on and no it's 2 separate guilds. FoH tends to not rush through content or attempt to be first on things since if a guild like them quickly progressed through content then people would call foul play since one of the developers is in the guild.

Kungen mentioned that yes, they basically didn't try. Their thing was they wanted Algalon down; which to them was the end of Ulduar. If it is not part of Heroic: Glory of the Ulduar Raider requirement or Algalon, then to them, it was not needed. They congratulate anyone who CAN defeat 0 watchers, but to them they are not interested. They may attempt it but apparently a lot of their core group is taking it easy during the summer holidays.

To show where I got this, Kungen's comment is near the bottom: http://www.ensidia.c...ers.html?page=4
