High rated 3's is more then highly populated by rmp (and has been for what, 2 years?) and now cleave. It is generally no different then 2's except for the rare hunter/______/healer teams.



5's isnt even worth mentioning because to have 1 person say a targets name over vent, and everyone "bug zapping" the target within 1-2 seconds, is extremely lame.


2's is the only bracket that doesn't have the regularly used, target player, cast death mentality.

Imo It will take more then a 10% dmg decrease through resil to bring 3's, and especially 5's, away from the insta gib fest that they really are. (melee dps and some casters usually only run enough resil to drop dmg by about 7-8%).

Im guilty of fotm because I leveled my rogue a few months back for 3's and am currently running rmp at a little over 2k. Most matches consist of me opening, evasion, reopening, evasion, reopening, and if there isnt a death by then, games get kind of sketchy

if anyone thinks 3v3 or 5v5 is more balanced than 2v2 right now... they obviously have little experience in the arena.



the reason 2v2 was so popular was that it was the easiest to find a stable comp and play it well.

first, you can't count specs that are generally not playable in arena ATM like spriests. but after that you look at the top teams, there are a lot of FotM comps, but there are also a lot of peppering of random ass pairs.


3v3 it is much harder to find a stable comp and have any chance against RMP which is so ridiculously broken and has been since the start of arena. And if you can beat rmp, then you are most likely rolling a cleave comp. I mean who is limiting classes now? good luck playing a warlock vs dk/warrior. Cleave is retardedly stupid in arenas.


5v5. cleave is king
period.
almost every team is pally,healer, (dk/ret/war)x2 or 3, +- ele shaman
try running oddball caster comps here.. GFG
think the only caster that can manage is an ele shaman who have always been the kings of 5v5, with wrath they only got better.
also, trying to get 5 competent people online and playing at the same time. It usually turns out to be a bigger challenge than the actual arena games.



i love arena's, and despite having to take most of this season off, i still care how they are gonna be next patch when i play again.

Name me an anything/mage comp that stands a chance against an anything/paladin comp, please.

Yeah, mages own in 3's thanks to RMP, but with the exception of RM, which relies on the enemy team either having no healer or being brain dead, mages just can't play in 2's, at all, and that's a ridiculous bracket to then balance the entire game around and hand out free gear to paladins.

Note the main issue with mages is really that we're entirely reliant on a rogue being there to set us up. We have to stand still to do any serious damage, and LOL at standing still vs an opponent that isn't stunned by our buddy. This gives us exactly one comp in 2's, and since it includes no healing, it's one shot, win or lose, in the first 30 seconds. I enjoy longer matches; where do I find this as a mage in 2's?

This change is not "destroying" the 2v2 bracket. As i'm sure someone has already said, mainly because it is completely obvious, is that if you were aiming for the weapons and title in the first place then you should have ABSOLUTELY no problem finding another person for 3v3. And for casuals to complain about this change being stupid and making them go to 3v3's: if your casual then you probably dont have a 2k+ rating team, and thus since your "casual" you wont care about the weapons or title.

Every change can't be used as an excuse to cry. Pick your battles.

I'm picking this battle.

Why would anyone endorse a change that does nothing to fix the problem in question, but will cause harm and upset people?

At the top, gear and skill are virtually equal, so class is the only thing that can ever be the determining factor... In any bracket. Ever.

The current state of 2's is that you either do well, or you don't. If you have the gear and the skill, but your class holds you back, what do you do? You go play 3's of 5's.

With this change, Blizzard is reaffirming a negative trend by making it law. It doesn't help the class imbalance in 2's, it doesn't address the fact that 3's are just as lopsided, or the fact that so few people actually enjoy 5v5.

It DOES seriously impact 2's in a negative fashion, as not only does it curb many peoples' preferred match size and style, but it also allows people from 3's and 5's to drop down to 2's whenever they want and poop on them with better gear.

The only sensible fix is to come out and say, "We're not balancing for 2's, so deal with it (Which they're already saying) and leave it to that. The people with gear and skill but bad comps will get their gear just like they always have- in 3's and 5's. Leave 2's alone, and let the cheese comps fight it out at the top.

Oh yea- people who assume that 'casual' is a synonym for 'scrub' come off as patronizing asses. I'm casual because I play around my schedule, rather than scheduling around my play. My partner for 2's lives with me, so we know when we can get our matches. I know we are capable of 2350.

Having to pick up a third person that is any good and is in the same time zone and can get matches in is a bigger obstacle than having to fight 200 pally/DK teams ever will be...

I've never seen a 2400 rated mage/rogue, or mage/ret pally team evar....oh wait..... yah, actually there are a good amount of them. And the good ones, not the facerolling ones, are extrememly hard to beat.
