In the next major content patch, we intend to adjust mount requirements to further improve the leveling experience in World of Warcraft. In addition, cast times for summoning all mounts will be reduced to 1.5 seconds, down from 3 seconds. The following is a breakdown of the upcoming cost and level requirement changes we are making for each riding skill.

• Apprentice Riding (Skill 75)
  • 60% land mount speed
    
  • Requires level 20
    
  • Cost: 4 gold
    
  • Mount cost: 1 gold
    
  • Mail will be sent to players at level 20 guiding them to the riding trainer

• Journeyman Riding (Skill 150)
  • 100% land mount speed
    
  • Requires level 40
    
  • Cost: 50 gold
    
  • Mount cost: 10 gold
    
  • Mail will be sent to players at level 40 guiding them back to the riding trainer

• Expert Riding (Skill 225)
  • 150% flying mount speed; 60% land mount speed
    
  • Requires level 60
    
  • Cost: 600 gold (faction discounts now apply: Honor Hold [Alliance]; Thrallmar [Horde])
    
  • Mount Cost: 50 gold
    
  • Can now be learned in Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde)

• Artisan Riding (Skill 300)
  • 280% flying mount speed; 100% land mount speed
    
  • Requires level 70
    
  • Cost: 5,000 gold (faction discounts now apply: Honor Hold or Valiance Expedition [Alliance]; Thrallmar or Warsong Offensive [Horde])
    
  • Mount Cost: 100 gold
  
  
  
• Movement Speed Training By Class
  • Druid
    • Travel Form: Requires level 16
      
    • Flight Form: Requires level 60 (150% flight speed)
      
    • Swift Flight Form: Requires level 70

I'm super happy about that change. Makes not having epic flying a bit more bearable on alts.

Yeah, I don't know if I completely agree with upgrading normal flying mounts from 60% to 150%... Stack that with a 1.5 second casting speed... PVP in outlands and northrend is now going to be a thing of the past.

So beside this change, I fear it will take 3 more years to

- balance Arenas/PvP
- nerf Death Knights
- give warlocks the "green fire"
- recycle Ahn'Qiraj/Molten Core

I mean, this change was necessary like 2 years ago. It is great to ease restrictions after few years of complains.. really..

Even if GC argued with "This is a big MMO, things change over time" - this is really ridiculous just because if you invest high amounts of time, they make all your efforts worthless. So if you are farming 6k gold for your epic mount, it may be worthless in the medium term of time. 6k gold isn't that much nowadays but just remember back in time where 800g was something like 24/7 of farming thorium/runecloth and kind of stuff

Nah but seriously only stupid thing is that normal fly mount was only 60%.. it was solesly cause of Scarcety from Blizzards side that NOBODY would eveeer use ground mounts ever again.. well they are partly right but i'm glad they finally made the changes

Good point on the cast time reduction. You really will need to rely on the element of surprise (or something to dismount them ) to catch someone before they fly off now.

well paladins got cheaper normal and epic mounts depending on your servers economy. Usually the are a little less but still a lot x.x

I got it before even Netherwing had dailies, mostly thanks to my Rogue being JC and making fat bank off gems early on in the expansion. ;x

Mage ended up taking a while though since by the time I decided to level to 70, the JC market had crashed (temporarily).

I have six characters with epic flying atm, and the only one I have any regrets about is my hunter that I bought it on as soon as I hit 70. The hunter is now 74 and I can pretty much guarantee that I won't be leveling it for a very long time. When I start leveling again at some distant point I'll probably kick myself for being too impulsive. Other than that, I've gotten what I paid for so I'll just view it as an extra good bargain for any that I buy in the future as opposed to a waste of money in the past.

Oh shut up, this change was far from neccessary 2 years ago. 2 Years ago there were loads of people still levelling in outlands, and having the flying mount so early would have totally killed the game at that point.

Plus, this would seriously be a 5 minute change. No balance concerns, no Texture changes.

w00t this might actually encourage me to level some Alts, nice to see that they understand that the levelling experience is getting a bit too tedious at lower levels.

Would still enjoy having RAF like qualities without having to buy a new account though (already have too many) =/

It's about fu**ng time they boost the 60% flying to be FASTER than the 100% groundmount. I never really understand why they made it a 60% speed one in the first place.
I don't have any 60% at all, but I can understand the frustration all other have...as I HAD 60% mount at some points myself, but grinded my ass off for a 280% one instead (and now I have it on my 4 80's and another one ), was just so annoyingly slow to fly around with a 60% one. :S Last one was bought a few days ago when I quested in Icecrown...took longer to fly to questzone than actually completing the quest. :/
