Love is in the Air

It's that time again -- yet another world event required for What A Long, Strange Trip It's Been and your own Violet Proto-Drake.  The Love is in the Air event runs from February 11th, 2009 to February 16th, 2009.  With that in mind, here's a quick overview of what you need to do to complete Fool For Love, the meta-achievement involved in the Love is in the Air Valentine's celebration.

For those disappointed in how quickly the Lunar Festival achievements were completed, this one looks like it may take a bit longer, as most of it revolves around the Gifts and Pledges of Adoration, which you can only receive once an hour at best.  Also for those keeping tally on your achievement points, completing all achievements related to this event will net you a total of 150.

Fool For Love (Alliance / Horde)

To complete this meta-achievement, you must complete all of the Love is in the Air related achievements below.

Heartmender (Both)

To complete this you will need to use 20 [Unbestowed Friendship Bracelet] on players with the Heartbroken debuff to remove it.

You can receive the bracelet from a Gift or Pledge of Adoration by turning in a [Love Token] (purchased for 10 copper from many NPCs) to the guards in Darnassus, Ironforge, Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff or Undercity, while wearing either [Perfume] or [Colgone].  Doing this can either net you the Adored buff and a Gift or Pledge of Adoration, or nothing at all and the Heartbroken debuff.

Shafted! (Both)

For this achievement, you will need to shoot 10 players with [Silver Shafted Arrow], one of the possible rewards from the Pledge of Adoration boxes received when turning in [Love Token].

You can also receive 5x [Silver Shafted Arrow] from the quest Gift Giving by turning in an [Alliance GIft Collection] or a [Horde Gift Collection] based on your faction.  These are created by combining the various gift collections from the major cities of your faction (Darnassus / Ironforge / Stormwind | Orgrimmar / Thunder Bluff / Undercity).

To create the city gift collections, you'll need items from the pledges in the city.  It probably isn't worth going this route unless you want spare [Silver Shafted Arrow] for after the event ends.

Note: Using Silver Shafted Arrow only works on players who do not currently have a Companion Pet summoned, as it applies a temporary Companion Pet to them.

Flirt With Disaster (Alliance / Horde)

This achievement is completed at different NPCs for Alliance and Horde, though the basic requirements are the same.  First you must become "Completely Smashed" by drinking various alcoholic beverages.  Now you need to look for the NPC specific to your faction's achievement, use a [Perfume Bottle] on yourself and a [Handful of Rose Petals] on them, then use the /kiss emote while they're targeted.  What happens after we really don't want to know.

For Alliance you'll need to find Sraaz, the Pie Vendor, in Ironforge; he typically roams around the Great Forge area of the city.  Horde players, on the other hand, will need to locate Jeremiah Payson, the Cockroach Vendor, in Undercity; you can find the friendly roach salesman in the middle of the Undercity.

Lonely? (Both)

This achievement seems rather easy to complete.  It only requires you to join another player at their Romantic Picnic in Dalaran.  To do this you need to use a Romantic Picnic, deployed by [Romantic Picnic Basket], while another player is also using it in the city of Dalaran.

[Romantic Picnic Basket] is found in the various Gifts and Pledge of Adoration gifts received by turning in a [Love Token].

Nearest and Dearest (Both)

For this achievement, you must complete A Bubbling Cauldron by right-clicking on the cauldron near Apothecary Staffron Lerent at [89, 74] in Raveholdt Manor, which is part of the Love is in the Air quest chain that starts with Dangerous Love (Alliance) from Aristan Mottar in Stormwind, and Dangerous Love (Horde) from Fenstad Argyle in Undercity.

 Alliance  Horde

The Rocket's Pink Glare (Both)

This is another fairly easy achievement in the set to complete.  For this, you'll need to shoot off 10 [Love Rocket] within 20 seconds or less.  Love Rockets are rewarded from the quests Gift Giving (A, H), Morgan's Discovery (Alliance) and Zinge's Assessment (Horde) as well as from the various Gifts and Pledges of Adoration rewarded by turning in a [Love Token].

Nation of Adoration (Alliance / Horde)

Once again, another easy achievement.  Though the Alliance and Horde versions are different, the criteria remains similar.  You must receive a Gift of Adoration from each of the cities listed.  For Alliance players, it's [Gift of Adoration: Darnassus], [Gift of Adoration: Ironforge] and [Gift of Adoration: Stormwind].  For Horde players, you'll need to collect [Gift of Adoration: Orgrimmar], [Gift of Adoration: Thunder Bluff] and [Gift of Adoration: Undercity].

Fistful of Love (Both)

This achievement will require you to either brave the video lag of Dalaran in seach of your targets, compete in the various PvP gameplay choices, or travel around the world.  You'll need to use a [Handful of Rose Petals] on the listed classes.  The Handful of Rose Petals can be found by completing the quests Gift Giving (A, H), Morgan's Discovery (Alliance) and Zinge's Assessment (Horde) as well as from the various Gifts and Pledges of Adoration rewarded by turning in a [Love Token].

Sweet Tooth (Both)

This achievement requires you to sample each of the candies contained in [Box of Chocolates]: [Buttermilk Delight], [Dark Desire], [Sweet Surprise] and [Very Berry Cream].  Box of Chocolates can be acquired by completing the quests Gift Giving (A, H), Morgan's Discovery (Alliance) and Zinge's Assessment (Horde) as well as from the various Gifts and Pledges of Adoration rewarded by turning in a [Love Token].

Be Mine! (Both)

This achievement may be quite time consuming, as you'll need to receive a [Bag of Candies] from the various Gifts and Pledges of Adoration and use it to create the following candies.

My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose (Both)

To complete this achievement, you'll need to acquire either a [Bouquet of Red Roses] or a [Bouquet of Ebon Roses] from dungeon bosses in World of Warcraft.  The Ebon Roses are substantially harder to acquire than the Red Roses, as they only drop from Northrend dungeon bosses.  Drop locations are listed below.

 Bouquet of Ebon Roses
Maiden of Grief (Halls of Stone)
 Prince Keleseth (Utgarde Keep)
Prince Taldaram (Ahn'kahet: The Old Kingdom)

I Pitied The Fool (Both)

Completion of this achievement unfortunately requires participating in PvP activities, so if you're a player who isn't fond of PvP, you'll need to at least stomach it long enough to finish this, assuming you really want that Violet Proto-Drake.  To complete, you must use the /pity emote on a [Love Fool] while in the following areas.  The Love Fool can be found in the various Gifts and Pledges of Adoration rewarded by turning in a [Love Token].

  • Arathi Basin Blacksmith
  • Battle Ring of Gurubashi Arena
  • Naxxramas
  • The Culling of Stratholme
  • Wintergrasp

Yeah, the worst is going to be the candies. Bad luck on those and you're hosed out of a violet drake for a year. Unless you can afford to make sure you get EVERY hourly pledge for the length of the event.

If it was anything like last year, only the gifts contain things like bags of candy, and you only get a gift once an hour. The rest of the time you just get a pledge, which can be combined for "voting" on your favorite faction leader, but are otherwise not useful for any of these achievements.

The Bouqet of Red flowers do NOT drop from the old bosses in BRD for example. They now only drop in Northrend instances. My suggestion is farming the first boss of UK.

I got a Pledge of Adoration my first time. Subsequent turnins with the Adored buff up gets you Pledge of Friendship.

Red and Ebon both drop from Northrend bosses only now?

Red roses not dropping from oldworld instances. you should take that info down before too many more people waste time looking for them.
