Thread: Engineering?

    Engineering?

I'm currently JC/LW and I plan on dropping LWing for Engineering after reading through EJ and saying if I use every bomb and cd possible it's ahead of any other prof.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with engineering in a PvE sense?

    Re: Engineering?

I have, We got basicly no engineers in my guild who raids (We're running ulduar hardmodes) and I like PvP quite a lot so I decided to throw away skinning (was LW/skin) and took engineering, it's quite fun you have a lot of things to play around with and as a rogue the 340 haste on gloves is a nice addition to my DPS, the bombs got a 1 min CD and no gcd so you can easily throw them without screwing up a rotation.

So overall I suggest you go for it, it's great fun and definately viable for PvE. (Plus you get an auction house in dalaran ;D)

    Re: Engineering?

As long as you're actually up for the numerous cooldowns you're adding to your play style. Keep in mind, without using your bombs exactly on cooldown (same for haste, etc), then you're losing a small chunk of your benefit from engineering.

I recently dropped LW to pick up ENG and I haven't looked back, it's great.

I play Assassination and when it comes to the 340 haste to gloves every minute, I simply just bind it to my mutilate key to obtain maximum uptime. The same could be done with SS I suppose.

    Re: Engineering?

The biggest thing is that the gloves are not on GCD, so you can really get max use out of it. I don't have it macro'd simply because I don't use it during trash, but I should, lol.

Don't forget that on top of the Hyperspeed Accelerators, Nitro Boosts are the best boot enchant for rogues (given you are hit capped of course), Flexweave Underlay is the best cloak enchant for rogues (only by one Agility, but one Agility is one Agility), and Saronite Bombs are a big DPS chunk when used on CD.

If you use every CD as it comes available, Engineering is the best profession for rogues. I had mining, which I vowed to never drop again, but dropped it and spent a ton to level JCing. I can't say I regret that decision at this point.

    Re: Engineering?

The Hyperspeed Accelerators are great for both Muti and Combat.

    Macro I use is:

    #showtooltip Sinister Strike
    /console Sound_EnableSFX 0
    /use 10
    /run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
    /console Sound_EnableSFX 1
    /cast Sinister Strike

Good thing is that it 'auto updates' as you change your gear.

Admittedly I do find it hard to do my rotation and throw/aim the bombs at same time, I still manage to compete with Warlocks and Hunters for top spots for DPS on running fights (Emalon, Grobbulus, Razorscale etc). On standstill fights there's simply no contest on the DPS charts.

Been a Engineer for 4 years. Regretted it for a wee while, but engineers are back on top!

    Re: Engineering?

The Hyperspeed Accelerators are the BiS enchant for many classes, including rogues.

    340 haste is a buttload.

And if you use a bomb every cooldown, it does indeed add a nice and tidy amount of DPS.
    Needs more perkele.

dps on single targets for bombs if used every CD thats not acounting for a boss that only lives for 61 seconds and you squese in 2 bombs since that will give higher numbers and on aoe trash pack's bombs are great.
also the hand mounted pyro rocket is higher dps than the hyperspeed accelerators for some classes and the nitro boost on boots is the sex for some fights were you can realy use the speed boost to move in our out to avoid an aoe

    Re: Engineering?

It's quite a pain to manage yet another 2 cooldowns, but the benefits and utility are very much worth it.

    Re: Engineering?

You don't really have to manage anything, marco them up and you never have to worry about them until you have to click to fire the bomb.
