G4 - WoW 5-Year Anniversary Retrospective
G4 recently sat down with three key contributors to World of Warcraft's early success to look back at five years of the game, what it was like in the early days of development, and their thoughts moving forward. There isn't a whole lot about Cataclysm discussed, other than the fact that they knew they wanted to make it (and more) shortly after the game launched, but the interviews are definitely interesting.
We learn that Kalgan's favorite area in WoW is Warsong Gulch, Tigole's is Westfall, and Valnoth's favorite story is the first major quest series he created -- which eventually turned Tirion Fordring into one of the game's major heroes. Oh and paladins originally had Shield Bash, not warriors. And it was a 10 second stun with no cooldown and no diminishing returns. I suppose we take today's balance for granted sometimes! The videos are broken up into four parts below.
