Quel'Delar Quest Preview Update

The Quel'Delar questline is in many ways the conclusion to WoTLK for non-raiders. Available to all classes and specs, it will require you to do all of the new 5-man instances. The reward is a choice of weapons, with something for everyone. As soon as the stats for these items are known, you can bet we'll update you on them.

Starting the Quest

The questline starts with an item, [Battered Hilt]. It is unknown how this item is obtained, but there's a good chance it will be a rare drop from the 5-man Icecrown Citadel instances. It can be traded.

The Battered Hilt

The first quest is a simple delivery quest. You bring the quest item to an NPC at Quel'Delar's rest, which is a short distance south of the Argent Torunament Grounds.

What The Dragons Know

This is another delivery quest. You will need to go to the top of Wyrmrest Temple. After turning this in, there is a brief event which gives you some background lore on Quel'Delar.

After this, you go to Dalaran and turn the quest in to an NPC in your faction area (The Silver Enclave/Sunreaver Sanctuary).

The Sunreaver Plan/The Silver Covenant Scheme

At this point, you go to Dalaran's Underbelly and kill an NPC associated with the other faction. The point of this is to gain information on their plans.

A Suitable Disguise

Now, you must obtain a tabard which will allow you to sneak into the opposing faction area in Dalaran. To do this, you visit Shandy Glossgleam, who uses his Water Elemental to do laundry.

Before he gives you what you need, you must help him do laundry. He will call out what needs to be added to the wash, and you must click on it. This is similar to the "Still At It" quest (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=12644).

A Meeting with the Magister/An Audience with the Arcanist

Now you must use your disguise (which is a 5-minute buff, not a actual tabard) and go to the other faction's area in Dalaran. You will obtain the book Ancient Dragonforged Blades from the opposing faction's NPC.

Return To Caladis Brightspear/Return To Myralion Sunblaze

This is another delivery quest. Bring the book you just stole to Quel'Delar's rest. But when you turn it in....

Reforging the Sword

Up until this point, it's all been solo tasks. Now the instance portion begins.

You must go to the Pit of Saron, the second of the three Icecrown Citadel 5-man instances. Collect 5 Infused Saronite Bars; these are lootable from green-glowing objects on the ground throughout the instance. You must also kill Forgemaster Garfrost, the first boss of the instance, and loot his hammer. Use his hammer at one of his anvils, then turn the quest in outside the instance.

Tempering the Blade

Now you must go into the Forge of Souls, the first of the Icecrown Citadel 5-man instances. Use the quest item near the Crucible of Souls, which is next to the last boss of the instance.

Unfortunately this is where the known information (other than our previous quest preview) ends, due to Halls of Reflection not being accessible yet. Keep an eye out for future updates on this quest chain as the 3.3 testing progresses.
