WoW market share, Site watch, Daily Blue

MMOG Subscriptions: WoW has 62.3% market share

This is not really suprising for most of us. According to MMOGChart.com, World of Warcraft has 62.3% market share of MMOG Subscriptions, the closest competitor which is Runescape is really far behind with 6.9%, followed by Lineage 6.6% and Lineage II 6.3%.

It's safe to assume that World of Warcraft won't lose his dominating position this year, however upcoming games as Warhammer Online, Age of Conan and Aion might turn the tide in the world of subscription-based MMO. What do you think?

Site Watch: "Be Imba!" Character Auditor

Be Imba's goal is to guide World of Warcraft players to maximize their PvE effectiveness. The selected checks and advisories help to identify common pitfalls and mistakes whether they are talent or gear related.

The tips given by this site should be used as hints and not as PvE tuning rules for improving your character.

It's using the Armory to run several checks on your character.
The checks include:
* Talent build checks seeking for left out vital talents or overrated talents.
* Gear check for unenchanted or misenchanted items.
* Gear check for ungemmed items or items gemmed improperly.
* Stats checks for DPS and Tank characters.

Our advice is to use this site together with Warcrafter to help you customize your PvE character.

Daily Blue

Sunwell Raid instance still closed (src)

The Sunwell Raid instance on the PTR is still closed for public testing at this time. Check back here for updates on future testing opportunities during this week.

TTR updated on March 10 (src)

The Tournament Test Realm has been updated to the second stage of the arena tournament.
In stage 2 the arena team change penalty will take effect (-150 points). I realize this penalty is already active, but now it will be intended.

Darkmoon Faire Hotfix (src)

A hotfix has been applied that will start Darkmoon Faire after the next realm restart or maintenance, which are currently scheduled to conclude at 11:00 AM PDT, March 11.
This will resolve the issue with the Faire running one week earlier than expected and will match the dates of the Faire to those listed on the event calender.

Arena season 4 soon? not really (src)

We've only stated that Season 2 is moving to honor, Season 1 is being removed, and Season 3 prices will be lowered. Whether Season 4 or Season 2 prices will change from the Season 1 and Season 3 sets they're replacing has not yet been stated.

One thing that's more certain is that Season 4 isn't going to start for quite a while.

About Uldum (src)

It's definitely a dungeon we're keen on opening at some point. Whether that can actually happen or not, or when, hasn't had any final decisions announced. It's a location rich in Titan lore so it's of course something everyone is excited to see come to fruition.

I find the door still interesting as something has obviously broken out. Was there something meant to be contained within Uldum, to be forgotten, that's escaped? Possibly something we don't even associate with the Titans or their creations. Maybe something we take for granted, I don't know, but I like that idea.

Blizzard won't make changes to socket bonuses in the future (src)

I didn't say we can't change socket bonuses, clearly we have in the past, and when we did it caused problems that required hotfixes. These problems may not have affected you personally but they did affect many players. We will not be making changes to socket bonuses in the future to avoid these problems.

World Wide Arena Battle's goal (src)

The point of the Battle was to load of the Tournament realm with as many people as we could (stress it) and take part in the Arena Tournament where we could so we could interact with the community. We also had some people with GM powers that were spawning in mounts for people as well as some extra mobs to entertain those gathered around.

The more we understand about the capabilities of our hardware, the more we are able to anticipate the load and make things as smooth as possible once the Tournament goes live.

Not sure if this is from the newest build on the ptr or if it was put in a bit ago, but the cost of the epic JC patterns has changed, up to 50g a pop<br />
<br />
<img src="http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/blankinthefill/gemcosts.jpg" alt="http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb281/blankinthefill/gemcosts.jpg" /><br />
<br />
(notice I'm revered, so at exalted they'll be 40g each)<br />
<br />
Considering there are 38 patterns, thats quite a hit.<br />
<br />
Factoring in rep. discounts, the total cost (if buying the patterns as soon as their available) is now:<br />
<br />
Friendly: 617g 50s (13 patterns x 47.5g each)<br />
Honored: 405g (9 patterns x 45g each)<br />
Revered: 340g (8 patterns x 42.5g each)<br />
Exalted: 320g (8 patterns x 40g each)<br />
<br />
for a total of 1682g and 50s for the old Scale of the Sands/Hyjal dropped recipes.<br />
<br />
The four new epic cuts also cost 50g each, and are available at revered with SSO, decreasing their cost to 42.50. The new Regal Nightseye cut, available at revered, costs 10g 20s, and the 2 new meta cuts cost 12g 75s (also at revered) for a total of 205g, 70s.<br />
<br />
This brings the total cost of all JC cuts available from SSO to 1888g and 20s. <br />
<br />
The Alchemist stone patterns prices have also been increased, to 21g 25s at Revered, or 20g at exalted when they are available.

Though your math is right if you get all your recipes right when you hit the reputation level, you can save quite a bit if you wait for exulted on all of them. Not sure if my math was right here, but if you wait until exulted, you can get all the JC recipes for 1713g 60s. You only save nearly 175 gold, but it is a savings none the less. Completely the dailies and run MT over and over again should get you exulted very quickly and unless you have people busting down the door for these gems, waiting until Exulted isn't going to take very long.

And? I have every non-epic Cut, and about 1/3 of the epics ones. I have all the other JC recipes in the game except one. I have far more gold than this. That doesn't mean that I'm not interested in how much this is going to cost, or the bump in prices. I posted this to give people information that I hadn't seen on this site, that I know <b>I</b> would be interested in. The fact that lots of people can afford to buy them is immaterial.

I personally don't think Conan will take a whole lot away. I've heard and seen so little of this game over time, the marketing doesn't seem to be there.<br />
<br />
Warhammer will pull a few, including me, but again, so little has been shown of the game, the hype is basically diehard Warhammer fans and that's it.<br />
<br />
WoW is WAY too casual accessible to stop any time soon. When my girlfriend can get to lv60, and understand the game, you know it's an easy entry level. Not to mention, by the time these other MMO games are released, they walk right into the Lich King.

Well the increase in daily will will help with the cost some, but it depends on how much play time you really have and the amount of gold you are getting. 11g 99s for your standard daily quest. If you complete all 25 of the daily quests it comes to just under 300g a day. Now you have spend 5 hours doing your dailies and have no other time to run instances or PVP. The people with lives might do half of the daily, might. The Hardcore raiders/PVE players will do it for their repair bills. other Then that I don't see a majority of people doing their sunwell dailies, though this comes from a 4:1 horde heavy PVP server and an Alliance perspective, so it is a little skewed.

What? They can't be anymore clear than they already have been, honestly. Season 1 will NOT be obtainable once Season 4 comes out.<br />
<br />
P.S. lol, Runescape.

Why would it change to S2, explain to me how that makes any sense at all. The items arn't being removed from the game, the ability to obtain them are.
