Highest Burst Casting DPS? #1

Gnome Warlock

I'm a little bit confused as to what class to play. I was playing a warlock up to level 7 and was told that Warlocks are more of a DOT Steady DPS class, by somebody, who recommended I play an Elementalist Shaman.

But I've read here in the forums that there are a couple of contenders for this, Moonkins, Mages, Hunters.

Somebody on my server even recommended a Shadow Priest.

Any insight into these classes would be appreciated - I'm new and don't really know anything about this game.

I just want to be able to level fast and be somewhat viable/good in PVP lateron. (I don't mind learning a class and playing to its potential.)

For a PvE environment, an elemental shaman can throw in quite some burst dps, yes. But in PvP, casters have a hard time doing this, as you'll be constantly haunted and chased around, interrupts are everywhere! I think mages are still the most reliable for PvP burst, either arcane for pew pew pew burst, or frost for surviving and having some, but less, pewpewpew.

I'd say frost mage is the way to go, survivability is great, have less burst than warlocks, but in the long haul a mage can do wonders.
Either mage or warlock.
Shadowpriest can be fun, but its hard out there with all the melee overrunning bastards with interupts
Don't know that much about elemental, but its very bursty with the right gear.

Do whatever you want, all classes can burst. All classes are fine.

Warlocks have 3 Talent tree's Affliction, Demonology and Destruction, Affliction is very dotty (great while leveling) demonology is more pet based damage and estruction is well like a mage, cast time spells large numbers

Demonology is a mix of the two styles
