It seems to me that lately a lot of guilds are calling it quits. Major raiding guilds are giving it up (raiding) for a more relaxed feel, to enjoy the expansion better. Relieving themselves with the unwanted people and bringing together a core of people whom are elitist or experienced enough to ride with style. All people who are either prepared to raid in the expansion, or are giving up on raiding in general.

It happens all over, and well.. it's a bit heart breaking to see die hard raiding guilds die like that. Personally I believe that if you can stick together to raid the current end-game content, then surely you can stick together to do future content after a short hiatus while leveling up.

It also breaks up friendships and former alliances. It's not affected me as it has for others, though I'm dead certain that had I experienced the guild drama that some of my friends have, then I would have moved my main to a new realm too for a 'fresh start'.

My friends however, want me to join them, which is a problem. I like it where I am, I enjoy the company of people that I don't know RL, I think of them as friends and they are great fun. I'm not much a person to use Ventrillo or Skype for that matter, but whenever my friends and I play together that's how it is and that's totally out of character.

You see, I'm a roleplayer and I like typing and emoting. It's much more a challenge than blurting stuff into a microphone.
On the other hand though, I really like my friends that play WoW too. They have sort of the same mentality like I do towards end game content, they're all experienced raiders but I see myself very much different from them still. Personally I believe I'm more involved with the game than they are.

So, my dilemma now is that they want me to join them on their new realm for the expansion. As tempting as it is and I'm sure it would've been great fun if I did.. I'm not going to.. at least not until the drama breaks out in my guild (which I very much doubt it will).

Ebon Flame is my home away from home. Separation of IC and OOC is important and while I like my friends; my shaman stays put.

That's not to say I won't play with them. I've moved my warrior to their realm and I'm currently working on getting her to level 70. Whenever I get tired of my shaman or whenever I want to, I'll log my warrior and pewpew faces with her. I may even do some raiding with them, though at the moment that's not a driving force.

Friendship, fellowship and community - that's where MY fun in WoW is.

I hope my blog is read and apreciated. <3

My pvp day was split, me and my partner needed to finish our games. So we started the queue, 7-8 min queues for 2v2. We haven't seen that for 3 months, and we needed to finish. Anyways, had about half an hour before raid too, so we thought we had plenty of time. But only got 3 in. So the order of the 2 matches was 1st one was pre-raid, 2nd one was post raid

First one was me (elemental shaman) with resto druid partner. Note here - we are specced for PvE. Thus he pops into a tree near the end if we're going to win just to taunt the other people.

Anyways, we run up against a rogue/rogue combo. They do the stun lock thing on me, but the druid keeps me up. They decide to rape the druid, they do. But I get one to about 15% and another to about 70% with lightning bolts and chain lightning. So druid dies and I'm up against 2 rogues. My worst nightmare. especially mace specced. Luckily one crit frost shock later and 1 is down.

Last rogue comes at me, I hit frost shock to slow him down, and my searing totem is and has been down. My health is dropping but so is his, he's got about 1500 life left, I get a frost shock off, praying for a crit, no luck. He hits me, I'm down to 150 health, and bam, searing totem crits on him, game over. I win.

I've never beat a rogue 1v1, let alone 2v1.

2nd strange battle was after a raid, we needed to get our games in or else not get points. I was resto for raid as we needed more healers on Kalecgos. So I run to the bank and get my gear, he queues us, and it pops on us within seconds. I have to run to the trainer in SW to untalent. Take the queue or forfeit the game. So I get in right before the game starts. So while we're fighting, I'm trying to respec and fight at the same time. Bad idea, but druid is good and keeps me up. We're up against a warrior priest combo. So I'm getting mana drained like crazy, which in retrospect is good because once I got drained, they pretty much left me alone, which gave me a chance to finish respeccing. I finally get it done about 1 min into the game. Got some mana, and target the warrior, and everything works. Lightning overloads, crits, just start going off. Warrior gets low, and druid cyclones the priest just as a heal is about to go off, My lightning bolt crits, warrior down. Then we rape the priest.

Strange but interesting start to our 2v2 season.

Newest Shaman Changes for WotLK

Totems will be raid wide

Woot... This huge. Note some think this is a nerf, as I've read on the WoW forums. But this is a massive raiding buff.

WF totem able to hit everyone, even druids. Add the GoA/SoE to it is double bonus.

Mana spring totem x1, and then with 3 other shamans dropping the healing one (it stacks). So about 150ish hp per 2 secs, thus about 375 hp5x3, that's over 1k hp5 for the raid!!!

Note to this: it makes sense, essentially as it's a piece of wood sticking out of the ground, it should be pulsing the entire raid.

Though I can't find it now, I thought I saw where heroism will be a raid wide buff as well. Another massive huge win here, though seems OP to be honest. If you have 4 raiding shaman, over 2 mins of heroism is hacks. As it is in my Guild right now, we down most bosses in BT in under 5 mins. But raid wide means bosses could potentially be down in less than 3.

There also seems to be a change to the Hex spell, .5 sec CC which leaves the player able to move around... but not able to cast spells. So not really a CC but more of a counter spell type thing. The question here, will said hexed player be able to attack? or do they become a frog just able to move around?
Also long cooldown on this, 2min from what I've read. Still it will be a very useful spell, and needed in pve and pvp.

WotLK site and Blizzard

So it looks like the WotLK site is being shut down. Based on the info, a lot of people thought it was an actual Blizz site at the beginning. People...

So it looks like the WotLK site is being shut down. Based on the info, a lot of people thought it was an actual Blizz site at the beginning. People posted about it on the forums, some even linked the site. Then Blizz went crazy and started handing out perma-forum bans left and right. Not even temporary 1 month to 3 months bans, etc..

I’ve got to ask this question. Why? Why ban everyone, and what’s wrong with this site? Isn’t discussion about the new talents a good thing? Isn’t talking about the merits and O.P.ness of some of the talents and trees worthy of discussing? How does it really hurt Blizzard?

I would even go further to say that discourse on “leaked” WotLK information is a good thing. It gets people excited about the expansion, not only that but it can potentially keep people from heading to other games like AoC and Warhammer. Add that it’s not a huge mystery that some of the “leaks” happened just before AoC came out seems to mean that Blizz wanted the information out there, yet they seem to hate people actually talking about it, especially in their forums.

I’d recommend to Blizzard that their course of action will actually hurt their business in the long run. It would be an interesting survey to see how many people got banned from the forums, and end up quitting WoW before the next expansion, or how many stay on. Let’s face it, people who play WoW want to talk about it, discuss it, read, look, etc… Most times, I’d venture to guess that the best place for that is the WoW forums. So doing what Blizz is doing, will have negative consequences, possibly more than they think.

shaman alpha talents, etc... (long read but worth it)

As suggested in my first blog, the talents and spells have finally been released. So what’s new, what really changes, and will the ele/enh shaman...

As suggested in my first blog, the talents and spells have finally been released. So what’s new, what really changes, and will the ele/enh shaman finally become more viable outside of soloing and raiding, and how much will resto benefit from the changes.

So the basics of the changes – we finally get a CC. That’s Crowd Control for the newbs among us. It’s called Hex, and basically it’s the shaman version of sheep. It really doesn’t appear to be any different.
Also, we get a spell outside of nature damage, called lava burst. In other words, in terms of pvp, getting spell locked by counterspell, etc… and not able to do anything constantly, no longer happens.
New weapon damage spells, meaning earthliving – will enhance our healing. Flametongue will add spell damage. Basic thoughts – flametongue looks like it will actually be useful now. Earthliving I’m not so sure. The added healing and the bonus in the resto line will be nice, but let’s face the facts, will it replace mana oils? Personally, I don’t think so. Especially since - at this point - shaman don’t benefit from spirit as their priest and resto druids do.

Elemental changes

1.	Lots of lava talents to add this spell into our rotation. It will make the class more effective, and as I assume, on certain boss fights in raids, we’ll actually be able to do damage instead of standing around with a 2h and windfury trying to do nothing (Think Hydross).
2.	We will be useful as CC since we are easily hit capped.
3.	Astral shift – I’m curious about this. Usefulness? It will help. Is it clickable? Like a counter? How much are we really going to be critted? Especially in the arena when everyone has 300+ resil. And 66% when capped, means it’s not a guarantee. And duration of 3 secs. Isn’t long, but still long enough to heal or maybe damage.
4.	Earth, storm, fire – Ice 25% change to root with frost shock will be nice, but very inconsistent, but will be good for pvp. Earthshock range by 5 yards, with 5yards from pvp gloves, means a very long reach for an interrupt, will be very nice. And flame shock now seems like it will do some crazy damage. All of these will work nicely for pvp and pve.
5.	Thunder – Granted the knockback will change, no way it will stay at 200 yards, but it sounds cool. Instacast, 45 sec cooldown ae, restores mana, and does damage. Sounds kinda like our Oh Shit button.

What’s still needed, maybe a consistent reusable AE. But this does seem like a lot of issues may be resolved. However - overall - a marked improvement from B.C.

Enhance

1.	From the looks of things, axe’s will be the chosen weapon for raiding, as the extra damage from the weapon spec talent will be crazy, especially if it works with windfury. Though if it does, I can smell the nerf already. I can see fist weapons as the chosen choice for pvp.
2.	Imp shamanistic rage – much needed, though the 15 second duration still sucks. But being immune 25% of the time, might be a tad OP.
3.	The static shock, with the lightning orb change seems interesting, and will be the shield of choice for the raiding enhance.
4.	The cooldown and extra charges on Imp stormstrike will again add more damage to shaman, and also help others because elementals and boomkins like to steal the debuff a lot. And with the reduced cooldown could mean it’s up 75% of the time.
5.	Feral Spirit – looks like it is now proven that Thrall is enhance specced. As this has direct correlation with Thrall in Mount Hyjal. I like this as a 51 point talent. It’s cool, 2 min cooldown, so they can be up a lot. And depending on damage output will help with pvp and pushback.

Final thoughts for enhance – From the looks of things, the new ones will help in terms of damage. The added changes will also help them for pvp. Imp SR, and the Feral spirits will help a lot.

Restoration

1.	Imp earth shield adds charges – but still less than it was pre-nerf.
2.	Cleanse spirit – they finally get a full dispel
3.	Earthliving weapon – as I stated before, I’m not sure about its effectiveness because having mana to cast is always better than extra healing bonus
4.	The change to lightning shield – full ranked improves earthshield by 15%. Thus the combined talents of imp earthshield and lightning shield will improve it by 25%. That’s pretty hardcore. Though again, watershield will most likely be used the majority of the time.
5.	The addition of Ancestral Awakening and Tidal Waves make an interesting combination. Basically summoning a spirit that heals the lowest health person within 40 yards. This will be uber in raids and pve. However, it doesn’t work with chain heal. Blizz is trying to move the shaman away from chain heal. But it still is kind of a min/max chain heal because Healing Wave if crit will probably heal for more than 10k at 80, maybe more, and 60% will be extremely effective. It make the shaman more useful as a main tank healer depending on mana issues.
6.	The 51 point talent, I’m not sure about. Mainly for the simple reason, it doesn’t seem like it will work well. Essentially it “links” the main healed to 2 other targets, and thus the main target damage gets reduced by 50% and the others take the other damage. However, the link severs at 2200 damage. Also costs 12% base mana. Meaning, it’s extremely expensive and doesn’t do enough. Not only that, but it sounds complicated to implement well. It will definitely be something that will only be used at the beginning of a boss fight, maybe to mitigate incoming damage, but also for the start of arena. Because in the heat of battle, to stop healing, cast an expensive spell, then find 2 targets to select is just not gonna happen.

So the resto tree seems to me where not much changed, and the one least improved, though admittedly they are the line which didn’t need the most improvement. But in the basic areas it seems as though they still continue to do what they do best, chain heal, and add effectiveness to lesser and healing waves. The main problem I see is mana issues, because the changes seem to improve heals but almost forcing the resto line into going away from mana oils and water shield, thus they could have serious problems.

That’s it, my thoughts on the changes. I know it’s a long read, but I hope it’s been worth the read.

Title says what this is about, but here are some extremely basic suggestions which will help Blizzard keep their player base exiting to other games.

1. Everyone know it, but WoW has become a massive grindfest. We went from 10-25 dailies. Now people spend a good 2 hours doing them, some longer, and it gets old really really fast.

Everything about WoW at this point causes this, whether it's pvp or pve, for the casual or the hardcore. The massive grind for pvp gear takes insanely long. Either lower the cost on the items or make them accessible as Badge loot.

Professions are for the most part the same thing. Too many patterns are either Bop/BoE, or the reverse BoE,BoP. Not a lot of professions make money. But the ones that do, prices are now sky high thus reinforcing the need for dailies.

2. Respeccing and repairs - all of it leads to more and more grinding, more and more dailies. We have to make money in game to play a game we pay to play. I've played a few MMORPG's and I WoW is one of the few if not the only one to make players continually pay to repair their gear. Costs to repair are in the neighborhood of 50g.
Same issues with respeccing. Most players respec for pvp, pve, raiding, some for dailies, etc...
Granted it is the players choice to do so, however, it reinforces the massive need to grind, grind, grind....

It's getting really old. And really old fast. With other games coming out, it should show Blizz the need to put the fun back into WoW.

Blizzard has stated, through Kalgan,...

How long will you play your shaman. As it stands, there hasn't been any new information regarding our class.

Blizzard has stated, through Kalgan, that the class was lacking and in need of some improvements, and yet for all of their talk, virtually nothing was done to help them in BC. They stated for patch 2.4, that they wanted to give one of the trees, pref enhancement, some viability in 2v2 arena. But they didn't. Sure there were some minor buffs, but not what was needed to really compete.

I will state this though, as far as a raiding shaman is concerned, we do good. We have good output in terms of raw dps, and our totems help those in our group. Enhance shaman also are fairing very very well because they actually buff melee much better than elementals do.

Soloing as a class we are probably better suited than most classes as well. Doing dailies for me is a cakewalk.

The challenge is 5-mans, even some 10 (depending on group makeup), and pvp. Lack of instants casts other than shocks, lack of CC, have created part of the problem. Also, as far as elemental is concerned - lack of pushback talent other than a 4 piece gladiator set caused serious problems.

And now as the alpha site is up and running and all of the new talent trees are coming available, how long will the shaman class stay silent. How long will they give Blizzard the opportunity to fix the problems plaguing this class.

A lot seem to be on pins and needles waiting, giving Blizz a chance until WotLK. Me, at this point, I'm not so sure.

The druid and warrior trees are out, and seem to have the Kalgan hand behind it. No secret that he plays a warrior and the best 2v2 combo is warrior/druid. And those 2 classes seem to be fairing well in the new talent trees. Example, the ability for a warrior to duel wield 2handed weapons, is seriously O.P. But as stated, that's to be expected.

If Blizzard stays silent, I'd be willing to guess that at least 25% of the shaman class goes away. 10-15% just out and out quitting due to the lack of caring. Another 10% just rerolling into another class - more than likely druid.

And those are just the ones who quit when WotLK comes out. I'd say with continued silence, and if really nothing changes, another 10% will leave before WotLK comes out.

Let's face it, there are other games out and coming out to attract our $15 a month. After playing AoC for about 2 days, it's an amazing looking game, seems to play well, though admittedly I'm not very far. Warhammer will also be another big draw.

Added also that as those games come out, they are very customer centric. Meaning they actually seem to be listening to their customer base and implementing changes based on the feedback they receive as opposed to the constant ignoring that Blizz seems to do on their end.

However, with those 2 games out and coming out, it could be a good thing for Blizz. Though they have an insane amount of customers, 10 million + still. Once people begin to leave towards new horizons, even it's 1 million to AoC, and 1 million to Warhammer. It's still a significant part of the pie to Blizz. Drop 20% of your customers, and something has to change.

With WotLK, Blizzard can go a long ways towards customer retention by bringing up solid updates as the expansion draws near. They can go a long ways to keeping their customers by listening to them and by also balancing classes/specs.

In terms of arena, if Blizz fails to balance, then the whole arena as an e-sport will fail miserably, and once again Tom Chilton will be the goat. He is credited at this point for ruining UO, and if destroys the biggest MMORPG in history, he may as well retire because there won't be a whole lot of companies looking for someone to ruin their game.

Another example of the Chilton brilliance would be the latest interview talking about the change in gear. I won't go into it too much. But chances are if you're reading this blog, you know what I'm talking about. But the basics are that it supposed to help in terms of requiring less gear sets. However, with gemming and enchants, it won't solve the problem. People will still be need extra sets, and now they'll have generic armor that all clothies wear, that all leather wears, that all mail wears, and what all plate wears. Hell, look at the new pics. It pretty much all looks the same from all the armor. The imagination is seriously lacking. It shows an overall laziness by the WotLK team and Chilton. And remember this is also a team that didn't know how to itemize in the first place. Think the shaman class and all of the mail armor and it was better for an enhance to wear feral and leather gear, than it was to wear the armor they were designed for.

And no, I'm not one to make suggestions. There are plenty out there on the WoW forums. All Blizzard has to do is read.

So I implore Blizzard to really look at what they are doing. I implore Blizzard to give solid feedback on what they are doing to the classes/specs. I implore Blizzard to give the basics on what they are going to do and what they would like to do with the classes/specs.

And no, I'm not anyone special. Just an average player making an average blog. I happen to love the shaman class. I love the lore, and the basics of the class as a whole. But I see the issues, and hear the silence. I read the WoW forums, and I feel the discontent. Something needs to be done. Answers are needed and fast, or else Blizzard will have even more issues than it wants. They may as well kill of Thrall because he'd be the only shaman left, so they might as well kill off the last one.

So after about 6 months of having Illidan on farm status , and still having no warglaive drop. The members of my guild got fed up. Before doing BT this week they went and formed a new guild; Rather than being <NDC> they made <OPERATION WARGLAIVE> in hopes of changing our bad luck.

So after clearing BT and getting to Illidan, we kill him, and there it was! a Warglaive!

So now, thanks to my guild mates being superstitious, I am the proud owner of a new sword!

Just an interesting story i thought i would share!

Basically I decided to make this guide because so far I haven't found this tactic anywhere, prolly hidden somewhere in arenajunkies but I cba to scroll through them, and I bet neither can you.

2v2: 2048 at it's highest so far

To start off, the specs we're using for our 2v2:

Priest 48/13/0
Rogue 20/0/41

(Talent tree links yet to come)

Tips:

Rogue:
Keep an eye out for the opposing rogue when approaching the mage, getting a sap in may be vital for your survival. Do NOT get caught by the mage at the start if you wish to have the element of surprise, you're in control of the game for as long as the priest is not CC'd.
Use the pvp gloves if you so wish, this will help you against the mages 1st frost nova so you don't have to cloak to interrupt the most likely casted polymorph on the priest.

Priest:
At the start, keep moving and abuse line of sight to avoid being sapped by the opposing rogue.
When your teammate calls out he is going to start on the mage, start spamming dispel whilst running towards the mage to get you in combat and to avoid a sap, this will be crucial for you.

The only way you can lose to this team is if you are unlucky with resists on mass dispel, if both mage and rogue decide to take on the priest, if you waste any cooldown too soon or if you don't manage to kill the mage before he has time for a 2nd ice block, by then your priest will be so screwed over by the rogue that it can go either way.

General tactic:

Rogue:
Start off with premed+CS, followed by a rupture/expose when the stun is about to wear off, the mage will most likely try to blink out of it fast. Keep pressure on the mage at all times, save your blind for when it is time for the priest to mass dispel the mages ice block. When this happens, instantly CC the rogue so he cannot interrupt the mass dispel. After the ice block is gone, you have an easy job of finishing off the mage on low hp.

Priest:
Try getting counterspelled VERY early in the fight, this will help you a lot in the long run when either of you are on low hp. Do what you can to help the rogue with the random shadow word: pains on the mage, while soloing the rogue. You can not get help from your rogue in any other way but the blind, unless he has no combo points on the mage so he can throw a gouge in on the opposing rogue. Try not to have DoT's on the rogue because this will make helping you very hard.
You have to have your finger hovering over your mass dispel button, for a quick mass dispel when the mage iceblocks.

This tactic is based on keeping the pressure on the mage, forcing him to iceblock fast, and taking the only "oh shit" button away from him a split second after it has been used. So far I've never lost against this setup with this tactic, so if you're struggling against MR with a PR setup, have fun practising this to the max and throwing something of your own into the mix, after that your worries against facing a MR team should be over.

Thanks for Blizz that release these type of gears, so that i can pick up in quick and get into the battlegrounds / arena.

Otherwise... i may leave it for no way to go.

But... shaman has to buy all 3 sets seems... too expensive.

The Jewelcrafter in me, past – present – future.

It’s funny how things change over time. For instance, when I first rolled my Priest I had already planned to make him an Alchemist / Herbalist combo with the prime aim of feeding my a healthy supply of potions and with future aims at being a master at the art of transmute.

To cut a long story short, I got to 70, spent a few weeks there and got bored of my professions. So over the course of three days I went and picked up mining and Jewelcrafting. Sure leveling mining got really annoying around the 250 mark, but as soon as I hit 300, it all made it worthwhile. I had already acquired my epic mount by then so flying around Hellfire Peninsula leveling up on Fel iron got me to 375 pretty quick. I think I hit 375 Jewelcrafting later that same day which set me up nicely for my future in the colourful little stones.

I soon picked up the Powerful Earthstorm Diamond design which was my primary money maker. Sure, Living Ruby’s were by far my most popular gem, with Solid Star of Elune in second, and granted on a good day I could make a bit of money from them both, but the Powerful Earthstorm Diamond was where it was at.

Earthstorm Diamonds I’d simply purchase on the Auction House for around 30g, and usually 3-4 in one go. I’d cut them at my mailbox and simply walk back into the Auction House and list the Powerful Earthstorm Diamond for anything between 100-150g, happy times.

In the end it got a bit too easy and I started to slack, thus losing a big share of the market and in then 2.4 hit.

The Arrival of 2.4

Patch 2.4 brought some huge changes, and along the way the promise of some tasty new Jewelcrafting designs.

It only took me three days to hit revered and the moment I did I picked up the two new meta gems, for which I had planned for and made a stockpile of the require base gems. So, with now the Ember Skyfire Diamond and Eternal Earthstorm Diamond in my portfolio, I cashed in on them selling them for up to 250g+ each, not to mention giving away a handful of each to guild members and friends.
Of course, these days everyone and their dog is exalted with the Shattered Sun Offensive, and many jewel crafters already have the design meaning supply is a lot more easier to come by. I don’t play the market as much anymore in it, only doing it occasionally when I’ve picked up an expensive purchase (stack of enchanting materials etc.)

I’ve read the leaked WotLK info and seen the potential new gems and why I’m not totally shocked as most are just simple upgrades as you’d expect, I do hope for more.

The Future?

Simply put, Tailors have epic gear that lasts well into MH and even BT in some cases, give us Jewel crafters some epic Rings / Necklaces / trinkets or a combination of the three .

I know we do currently have epic trinkets but unless any of them have a nice bit of +spell damage on it they won’t get a look at from me. Definitely though, some BoP epic rings / Necks / trinkets that only us gem cutters can use would be great. Even better if there were some more of them but of the BoE variety.

It gets sort of disheartening when you in an instance / raid and it’s nothing but Leatherworking, Tailoring and Blacksmithing plans dropping.

I realize Blizzard have said professions will be getting a big shake up to make them more worthwhile for the person actually taking the skill, so I’m hopeful I won’t be too disappointed.

Oh, do I regret switching from an Alchemist to Jewel crafter? Not a chance :)

So the other night I finally achieved one of my ‘big goals’ in WoW. Sure no doubt to many the Champion of the Naaru title may be a distant memory as more and more now brandish the Hand of A’dal title, but for a casual on a Role Playing server I’m quite pleased with myself.

So, now my character can walk around proudly with his new title, I on the other hand am busy working out his next target (1200 Spell Damage unbuffed.) which, although it’s going to take a few upgrades is not out of my grasp but still a challenge.

Main upgrade should come from the new caster dagger, which I should hopefully hit in just over a weeks time, although I’m marking down two as a safe bet. Once that’s done and enchanted with a nice bit of Soulfrost it should put me on my way.

Now if only Magister’s Terrace would drop me the trinket I want instead of the dam tanking one...

Compare with those from my own experiences, i think i do love to be a shaman be'coz of it could DPS and Heal at the same time. (And i can dual weapons)

Totems may be limited by it's range, but i could put them on the floor in any places.

Shaman, rock'n roll~
