We all know frost has far to low dps in pve compared to the other dps speccs, but blizzard wont buff it since it will be overpowered in pvp.

I came up with a neat idea and would like to hear what you think about it.

I think they should change the deep freeze talent to this:

Deep Freeze

9% of base mana ---------------------- 30 yd range
Instant cast ----------------------- 30 sec cooldown

Cools the targets body down and cases effects depending on the target.
If cast on enemy the target will get turned into an iceblock and get stunned for 5 seconds.
If cast on yourself you will enter an arctic phase, incresing casting speed by 10%
and frost damage done by 10% for 30 seconds.
(Useing any aoe frost spells will cause you to loose to much cold and you will exit the arctic phase.)
Only useable on frozen enemies or on yourself.

This wont make frostmages overpowered in pvp since you will 95% of the time use the stun instead.
And if you use the deep freeze on youself you will only keep the extra damage and haste untill you use frostnova/CoC/blizzard and simular spells so its not worth it (you use this spells alot in pvp).
But it will give the extra boost in dps frost needs to be competetive on bosses and it will allso make the mage 51-pointer usefull in pve.

Ofc my numbers is just to give a picture, they should be carefully calculated to give the right dps boost.
And it dosent have to be haste and dmg. My point is just to use deep freeze on youself regulary to gain a dps boost of some kind.
Allso the thing that you is unable to use the aoe spells in the arctic phase is mabey not needed either, dont think frostmages will get a too big buff in pvp enyway.

What do you think of this idea? Will post it on blizzards mage forum / suggestions forum allso, but it just says my account is inactive and I don't know why :/

Your idea is good, but i was just reading a blue post where blizz wants to avoid things exactly like youre talking about, ie. abilites that have a simultaneous pve and pvp use. Not to mention it would be difficult to find out what amount of percentage that ability would need to grant to boost frost effectively.

hm.. didnt know blizzard wants to avoid that kind of abilitys. I think thats a nice part of the game that adds extra flavor.

Allso... how can it be hard to come up with that number, that must be the easiest way to balance the dps. Much easier when your just increasing a single spell. If frost is missing 5%, just add 5%. I can't think of a way to buff dmg that is easier to balance then this :P
