basicly I repseced to shadow with my priest because thats what ive always thought was best for leveling with for priests. However a few friends and random chat ive seen people saying that shadow is really crap compared to what it used to be (pre / post patch)

Now I havernt been shadow in a very long time but just asking has anyone seen a vast difference in todays build for leveling from holy / shadow

Because if i can level fine with holy i would rather be that so i can also get into groups.

Thank you for your time.

You can level fine with holy. Instances in northrend don't give much XP though, so the benefits of doing so are severely reduced. Make sure if you do level holy spec for damage, not for healing. You'll still heal fine without many of the critical raid talents. You won't kill things nearly as well without the talents that buff smite.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with leveling shadow.
You can heal well enough to do instances as shadow.

Shadow will still be the way to go with all of the regen talents and heavy damage spells. Holy won't be better at all for leveling if you're going solo.

Personally, I'd go with this build:

Excellent for leveling and just plain melting faces.

A decent resource for Shadow Priest needs can be found here:
