So this is the Spec I was thinking about in wotlk, it is going to be for mainly solo lvling and doing them annoying grp Q's. I took the majority of +dmg +crit talents that I thought would be useful. I didnt take Imp Elemental as well not instancing much etc doesnt seem that viable.
I spec'd into Arcane for the added dmg from Spell Impact / Torment of the week. The added Spirit and Imp CS.
Whats your opinions and why ? what would u change if anything.. been a while since I played a mage and I couldnt get it on Beta for testing different account

Brain freeze? Frozen Core? imp. CS? those are totally worthless for soloing (well think brain freeze is bad just because you are talented to frost and that way fire ball is not that a big deal..)
Arcane fortitude is just crap
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=o0xVcu0cZZVcfcofu0fzgbst something like this would be better but you could take arcane meditation instead of torment on the weak for less downtime if its going to be a "solo" spec

Well I wasnt far off and thanks for the reply. I took Arcane Fort for the armour increase granted not alot. Looking on it Frozen Core does look a bit shabby extra points to water elemental. I took Imp CS for them annoying caster mobs etc

If you're speccing for leveling, first thing you got to do is to dump those 10 talent points. You aren't leveling anywhere with a lvl 80 spec. That means, you'll probably be looking at 11-0-50 or 10-0-51, which ever ability you find more important to get first.
Talking purely about leveling, which essentially means killing mobs at around your own level as effectively as possible, I'd be likely to go for 11-0-50 (http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?talent=o0xf0zZZVcuIofu0czgfox) and add Deep Freeze and rest of the points as I level up. Things like Elemental Precision are nearly worthless; you need so little +hit on normal level mobs you're more than likely to have it already. If you like AoE grinding, then ofc points into Improved Blizzard. Brain Freeze is actually pretty good for leveling: it saves lots of mana. Less time you waste on drinking, more time you spend gaining xp. Arcane Fort is obviously useless.
And of course, once you reach 80, dump the useless rubbish like Frostbite, Shatter and Fingers of Frost if you're into PvE: any mob of any importance will be immune to chill effects and thus to freezing, just like before. Same goes with Torment of the Weak.

Normally caster mobs only have one school to use and in that 8 sec silence you should be able to finish them off.
and you are frost, you shouldnt get hit by melee so that armor doesnt make a big deal (and its maybe 1k or so armor at 80 so its like nothing anyway) so its waste of talents and clearcasting reduces downtime so its way more useful but you know

Actually, untalented lvl 70 fireball with a 1000dmg gear would hit for around 1900dmg. That's roughly 1450dps, depending on your crit rate. With zero mana cost. So, it increases your dps and lowers your mana spent, resulting in faster killing and less drinking. Quite possibly among the best talent points you can get for leveling up.

Fingers of frost can proc on bosses and any mobs not immune to frost thus making it good with shatter, so i rather not call it useless nor frostbite when fighting with mobs that can be hit by it or simply just soloing its good and most likely you can afford 3 points :p

Is FoF on raid boss a confirmed fact, tested after it was changed to proc off chills? I'd be happy if it works, because big part of frost spec viability in raids depends on it. And then there's Torment of the Weak, also in the same category of chill and raid bosses.
For the Frostbite, I already said "mob of any importance". Fighting a mob that can be hit by Frostbite means it's not an important mob. Waste of 3 points unless all you do is soloing. In fact, in raid situation, Frostbite proc is often a bad thing to happen. Gets people killed.
