In Wotlk i was looking at the aff tree and when i seen malediction it says Increases the damage bonus effect of your Curse of the Elements spell by an additional 1/2/3%, and increases your spell damage by 1/2/3%.
What i wanna know is do u have to use COE to get the increase spell damage by 3% or do u just have to put the 3 points into maledtcion to get the 3%

you get thoose 3% passivly, but its not wort it imo.
If you have 1000 spell power you get 33.3 spell damage. but its a nice addition if your guild want you to take it thought.

i have a feeling they might change it... its just not efficient enough of a talent

If you are already deep in the affliction tree, I don't see how an effective 6% increase for you and 3% increase to mages/warlocks/shadowpriests would not be worth it.
Then again I am not in Beta, so I haven't really seen any lvl 80 cookie-cutter specs.

Affliction is really lacking in DPS atm. Boomkins also can bring Curse of Elements with Earth and Moon. With a boomkin in a 25man setup, no need for any warlock to be using CoE, CoA or CoD for increased DPS, will be used.

It's the same effect as Fire Mage's "Playing with Fire" talent. It's not neccesarily the best payoff, but it's not nearly as bad as you make it sound, and at least one raiding Aff Lock should be taking it.

Spell Power = Spell Damage...
It is a 33.3 increase to your SP and is now a waste of 3 points if a Moonkin is in the raid. I've found myself investing points much lower down on the tree on purpose to avoid IHoT and Malediction in a raid build.

Guys, curse of elements and the boomkin thingie stacks.. also, if you have 1000 spellpower at lvl 80, ur wearing greens and grays.. imo imp CoE is rly worth it..

nhgghhhh...wrong
ebon plague, earth and moon and CoE are effectively the same spells, they certainly dont stack as that would go against blizz's policy of not "needing" certain speccs

Since the buff also doesn't require that you have CoE on the mob to get the bonus, you can consider it a 3% dps increase, which is right on line for what blizzard wants most talents to be (roughly 1% increase per point).
