maxed spell hit is more important than crit chance. Getting maxed hit is the first thing that a destro (or any lock) should do

Do you have to have spell hit at +202 before working on +crit ?

Anybody who does DPS should max hit before anything. you can have 2k spell dmg and 60% crit, but if every spell cast is a resist.... whats the point. and it would be a good idea to HAVE your 202 hit, or atleast be close to it.

ok, so lets word it this way.

Lets say you cast Shadow Bolt 10 times

4 are crits for 5k
6 are resisted

ya thats 20k dmg.... but what about the resists..... pretty useless eh? why not have ur hit cap and do more dmg... change those 6 resists into hits for 3k or something. now you are up to 38k. looks like more dmg done to me....

Even at 0 hit you will never miss 6 times out of 10. The trouble is everybody here is (or lets just assume) T5 content and higher... Hit is highly valued and should be capped at this point in game. Assume the poster is in blues doing lvl 70 instances...

Hit is good, and the most valued stat. What people seem to forget is... as your hit climbs the chance of you missing becomes less and less. Therefor the value of hit goes the same way (crit works the same). Do not sacrifice everything to be hit capped at extremely low gear lvls, hit capped with 700 spell dmg is horrible dmg regardless of cap.

Lol. Hit cap is still the most important stat Kaptain Karazhan. Until you get cap you should really consider gemming only hit or hit and spell damage. You obviously can't click scroll bars on your gear to change the stats so the only real thing you are sacrificing is gem slots at lower levels. Hit for casters is much different than that of physical dealers. Physical you must focus on reaching a much lower plateau than your overall in order to make sure specials, the bulk of your dps (except rogues), never miss. Casters on the other hand are boned if they miss. If your Shadowbolt is resisted, not only do you lose the 2000 damage, you essentially jsut stood there for 3 seconds with your thumb up your ass while burning 500 mana.

No.

It's not rocket science. To start with crit is the most expensive stat in terms of item budget so you can get more hit rating than crit rating for the same amount of item points spent. From there on it's pretty self explanatory why hit rating beats crit rating until capped.

Hits Pwns Crit simple as that.

As a Destro Lock sure a lot of damage comes from ya SB Crit and the Ability to Keep Shadow Vulnerability up. If you dont have the Hit then it all becomes pretty useless.
As a raiding Lock I value Hit above Crit.. it was that was in Kara and its still the same in SW :) Just off course better places u raid easier stats become to attain

You should aim to hit rating before Crit. But at the end you need to balance fairly both of course.

Max hit, then go for crit.

Or if you're alliance, whine at the guild to recruit an elemental shaman, and get +4% hit!

hit>damage>haste>crit if im not mistaking :S

haste moves up a spot later on in content

but do try and keep ~25% crit
