Dps- Shadow priest

Hello guys:)

Jeg was wondering what i my average DPS out-put should be?

Look at my gear and give me a reply and i will love you for ever:)

btw, my DPS record is 833 dps at an alar kill and 9** something at another encounter, cant remember what boss:)

With that gear you should be looking at 1000-1200 if ur going all out depends on the encounter

Then i cant really figure out what i am doing wrong... Is it that i just havent noticed my DPS all the time or am i useing a wrong set of spell?
I know that the spell rotation for a Shadow priest is not easy to figure out, so i cant really explain my own, but could some one show me theire rotation?

I love the +30 heal on your bracers.
At some point, you can say 1spell dmg = 1 dps for a spriest.
Tell us your spell rotation, maybe you're doing something wrong.
Or go to elitistjerks, you'll find some nice theorycraft there.

Shadowpriest.com has a tonne of information.. but generally speaking:

VT > Sw: pain > MB > SW:death > MF

Use that as a priority for application of attacks -- throw in VE wherever you think best, personally, i start with it because you don't want to open up DPS always anyways.

you also may want to try a mod called Facemelter it helps keep ur dots up and you can set a prio which basically tells you what to cast.

I just dl facemelter and i will try it out later, but here is my spell rotation as i remember it (im not 100% sure this is it, cause it kinda changes)

VT-SW:P-DB-SW:D-MF-MD-VT-SWD- and so on.

1000 - 1200 seems pretty high to me on a Spriest. Depending on the encounter, you should be topped at 1050 maybe. You should look up a spreadsheet.

1700's have been pushed by shadowpriests ...

With the gear he has, he can likely do 1200s. On an encounter such as alar, there is alot of downtime, so he really has a good reason to not be higher. Whereas a fight like teron if he doesn't get shadow of death, he could likely get a more accurate reading.

Go find Dr. Boom in Netherstorm (NE of Area 52) and just stand on the rock and test your dps... see how high it spikes. Don't forget to macro any /use trinket w/ innerfocus + Devouring plague.

Okay, so i just tested the DPS on Dr. Boom. i could, unbuffed, keep a steady dps of about 915. is that bad?

Bear in mind, that was without totems, CoS, imp shadowbolt, or any buff.. so that's not that horrible. I still figure you might be able to push more.

Well i just tried again at it seems every time my trinket and plague is up my dps i around 1020, but didnt get to try more than one CD cause he died:P but know i know that i can dish-out alot more than i thought:)

Brennt, are you a clicker or a masher?

Keybinding and mashing your keys instead of clicking the spells do wonders to your dps.
Also getting quartz and starting a new spellcast before the current one is done casting will also increase your dps.

For spellrotation i use VE->VT->SWP->MB->SWD, one thing to remember is too keep the dots up since they are a large part of your dps.
