Trinket question.

Ok just a question about a few trinkets..

I currently have one eye of mag and icon..1236 fire dmg/164 spell hit and /32.04 fire crit.

what i am wondering is if it is worth it to lose 53 fire dmg and go with the serpent coilbraid and icon together...i would lose 53 dmg/but gain 30 crit and both of those trinkets coil and icon can basically be used at te same time ..thus increasing dmg for 380 for 15 sec and 155 for the 5 secs after that. Is the static 1236 better then the other? I have been toying with this all day so any input would be cool.

Okay, first off. If you get serpent-coil braid, you can free up some sockets that you had hit in and put dmg/haste in instead. So the 12hit from the braid will get you around 12ish damage. So 30 crit, 12 dmg, and 225 for 15sec. I'd pretty much ignore the proc on eye cause it sucks. 225 damage for 15 seconds every 3 minutes is about 1/12 of the time IF you use a ruby in a timely fashion. So thats about 225/12 = 19dmg. So thats about 31dmg 30crit at BEST. I'd take 22dmg over 30crit.

Eye of Mag is a horrible trinket the closer you are to the hit cap. You have to intentionally gimp your spell hit to get any benefit. If you get your hands on a Darkmoon Faire Card: Crusade card that would go great with the Icon. The SCB would be a good second choice.

Timbal's Focusing Crystal (http://www.wowdb.com/item.aspx?id=34470) should also be put in the equation (although not sure how useful that is for a Mage), so to the Hex Shrunken Head (http://www.wowdb.com/item.aspx?id=33829)


Serpent-Coil Braid is nice, but only has +12 spell hit, a lot of the new gear dropping, especially the new Badge of Justice stuff has more than enough spell hit on it to compensate.

Serpent-Coil Braid looks like a nice trinket, however it does not allow you to use flamecaps, hence robbing you from about 80/3= 26.667 spelldamage.

If you never use flamecaps anyway, equip the braid, else you can just keep the Mag trinket until you can get a better trinket.
Some easy choices would be Quagg's eye, darkmoon card and Timbal's (it's actually average for firemages)
